Sikandar Box Office: Salman Khan starrer has a decent start; collects Rs. 30.06 cr on Day 1

Arriving almost a year and a half after Tiger 3, there were huge expectations from Sikandar. After all, Salman Khan is playing the title role and the film was playing to the gallery. Yes, there were mixed reactions to the songs but then the trailer was well received which gave an indication that a very good start was on the cards. Surprisingly, the advance booking didn’t pick up much due to which expectations for the first day came down to Rs. 32-35 crores.

However, the opening was lesser at Rs. 30.06 crores. From a Salman Khan starrer, especially considering Eid release, the first day was expected to be much better. Moreover, Sajid Nadiadwala had ensured that the film got the biggest release possible at the maximum screens and shows, which mean audiences, had a choice to step into theatres at any time of their choice. Still, the numbers just about managed to cross Rs. 30 crores mark.

In isolation, this is still a decent number because hardly any movies have managed this kind of number on the opening day and last few months. On the other hand given the factors like Salman Khan, Eid, massy treatment and biggest release, this has turned out to be just a fair start. Today is Eid, so all eyes are on the kind of jump that the film takes. If that is substantial then one can expect consistent footfalls in weekdays to come.
