Four and a half months after Dhurandhar The Revenge, Indian box office will evidence its biggest arrival in theatres in the form of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Such is the ‘brand value’ of this franchise that without any active promotion or marketing whatsoever, it’s just the very title of the film which has resulted in massive advance bookings for weeks prior to release. Moreover, last one week has seen ticket sales already with more than 10,000 tickets disappearing every hour and since yesterday, the trending for most part of the day has been 20,000+.

All of this means that a blockbuster start is assured for this Marvel movie, which has so much of goodwill going for it, especially after Tom Holland’s visit to India, albeit for a different movie, The Odyssey. It would suffice to say that even if this visit wouldn’t have happened, the opening day would still have headed for a mammoth score. Spider-Man is one character which has survived for generations and is really loveable for everyone for almost half a century now. Moreover, given the kind of hype that one can already see around it, he isn’t going to stop swinging anytime soon.

Meanwhile, the swing at the box office is all set to tilt towards Rs. 60 crores mark. The advance booking has pretty much ensured that Rs. 55 crores is there for the taking. The film could well run into a capacity issue but if more screens and shows open up today due to heavy demand then the number could well exceed even Rs. 60 crores mark. Basically, the film is a hit before release itself and it has to be seen how far does it go after the opening day.

The Tom Holland led Spider-Man: Brand New Day has set the box office on fire in India, as the superhero saga is headed to score an all-time record for a Hollywood film. As per the current advance booking trends, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has a shot at defeating Avengers: Endgame to take the no. 1 opening for a Hollywood film in India.

The Marvel Superhero film has clocked an advance booking of Rs. 35 crores for the opening day alone, and that's with about 36 hours still to go for the release day. The final advance for Spider-Man: Brand New Day could be as high as Rs. 50 crores, which more or less seals a record-breaking start in India.

For those unaware, Avengers: Endgame opened at Rs. 53.50 crores, and Spider-Man will be targeting a start in the vicinity of Rs. 55 to 60 crores. The walk-ins would be low as almost everything in the metros should be sold out in advance.

The film has sold around 3.75 lakh tickets in the top 3 national chains - PVRInox and Cinepolis - and is looking at a final advance in the vicinity of 5 lakh tickets for the opening day alone. That's not all, the pre-sales are phenomenal in the non-national chains as also the single screens, which means that the exhibitors are set to go on a crazy ride.

Spiderman is set to score history, as the film is commanding terrific sales for the extended opening weekend too, and the four-day business could be as high as Rs. 225 crore in India.

Dhamaal 4 has maintained a steady run at the Indian box office and has now accumulated Rs. 148.43 crores in 18 days. Going by its present trajectory, the comic entertainer is expected to finish with lifetime collections of approximately Rs. 165 crores.

The film began its journey on a healthy note, collecting Rs. 13.72 crores on its opening day. It witnessed significant growth over the opening weekend, earning Rs. 22.48 crores on Saturday and Rs. 28.15 crores on Sunday. As a result, Dhamaal 4 recorded an impressive opening weekend of Rs. 64.35 crores. The film remained steady during the weekdays and concluded its first week with collections of Rs. 94.45 crores. It comfortably crossed the Rs. 100-crore mark during its second weekend and collected Rs. 39.75 crores in its second week, taking its two-week total to Rs. 134.20 crores.

Dhamaal 4 continued to attract audiences during its third weekend as well. It collected Rs. 2.32 crores on its third Friday, followed by Rs. 4.45 crores on Saturday and Rs. 5.83 crores on Sunday. The third-weekend total, therefore, stood at Rs. 12.60 crores. The film collected another Rs. 1.63 crores on its third Monday, taking its cumulative collection to Rs. 148.43 crores. It is now expected to cross the Rs. 150-crore milestone over the next couple of days.

The collections are likely to experience another drop with fresh releases arriving in cinemas. Nevertheless, Dhamaal 4 should continue collecting at lower levels for a few more weeks, particularly in mass centres and locations where comedy and family entertainers traditionally enjoy longer runs.

Based on the present trend, the film is expected to earn another Rs. 15-18 crores during the remainder of its theatrical journey. This would take its lifetime collection to somewhere between Rs. 163 crores and Rs. 167 crores.

A collection of approximately Rs. 165 crores appears to be the most realistic outcome at this point in time.

The battle between the two ensemble comedy entertainers, Dhamaal 4 and Welcome to the Jungle, has produced an interesting box office comparison. While both films arrived with popular franchises, sprawling star casts and strong audience awareness, Dhamaal 4 has established a substantial lead over Welcome to the Jungle, particularly when their respective 17th-day performances are compared.

On its third Sunday, July 26, 2026, Dhamaal 4 collected an impressive Rs. 5.82 crores at the box office. The film was screened across 5,492 shows and recorded an overall occupancy of 23.60%. It sold as many as 2,62,903 tickets during the day.

In comparison, Welcome to the Jungle collected Rs. 1.85 crores on its 17th day, which fell on Sunday, July 12, 2026. It played across 2,266 shows, registered an occupancy of 20.80% and sold 81,069 tickets.

Hence, Dhamaal 4 earned Rs. 3.97 crores more than Welcome to the Jungle on Day 17. In percentage terms, the fourth instalment of the Dhamaal franchise collected approximately 214.6% more than Welcome to the Jungle. Put simply, its Day 17 business was more than three times that of the Akshay Kumar-starrer.

The difference in ticket sales was equally striking. Dhamaal 4 sold 1,81,834 more tickets than Welcome to the Jungle on the corresponding day. Its ticket sales were approximately 3.24 times those of Welcome to the Jungle, representing a jump of around 224%.

The wider showcasing enjoyed by Dhamaal 4 undoubtedly contributed to its superior collections. It had 5,492 shows on Day 17, compared to 2,266 shows for Welcome to the Jungle. Therefore, Dhamaal 4 played across 3,226 additional shows and had around 2.42 times the number of shows available to the audience.

However, the difference cannot be attributed to showcasing alone. Despite playing across a much wider number of shows, Dhamaal 4 also recorded the better occupancy. Its occupancy of 23.60% was 2.8 percentage points higher than the 20.80% occupancy registered by Welcome to the Jungle. Maintaining a higher occupancy despite having over twice the number of shows indicates that Dhamaal 4 enjoyed considerably stronger demand during its third weekend.

On average, Dhamaal 4 sold approximately 48 tickets per show on Day 17. Welcome to the Jungle, meanwhile, sold around 36 tickets per show. Therefore, Dhamaal 4 sold approximately 34% more tickets per show, further underlining that its advantage was not limited merely to its larger screen and show count.

The estimated average collection per show also favoured Dhamaal 4. The film generated approximately Rs. 10,600 per show, compared to around Rs. 8,164 per show for Welcome to the Jungle. This means that Dhamaal 4 earned nearly 30% more per show on its 17th day.

The strong Day 17 performance suggests that Dhamaal 4 retained considerable momentum even after completing more than two weeks in cinemas. A collection of Rs. 5.82 crores on the third Sunday is particularly noteworthy and indicates that the film continued to attract family audiences and benefit from the weekend jump.

Meanwhile, the lifetime comparison, calculated for both films as of July 26, also places Dhamaal 4 comfortably ahead. Dhamaal 4 had accumulated Rs. 146.93 crores by this date, while Welcome to the Jungle stood at Rs. 130.46 crores. Consequently, Dhamaal 4 leads by Rs. 16.47 crores in terms of lifetime collections. Its cumulative business is approximately 12.6% higher than that of Welcome to the Jungle.

Overall, Dhamaal 4 emerged as the clear winner in the Day 17 box office comparison. It recorded higher collections, occupancy, ticket sales, shows, tickets sold per show and estimated revenue per show. More importantly, its robust third-Sunday performance helped it consolidate its lead over Welcome to the Jungle in the lifetime box office race.
