After collecting Rs. 9 crores on Thursday and ensuring that the third week collections went past the Rs. 100 crores mark, Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi) kickstarted its campaign for the fourth week on a high as well. The film collected Rs. 8 crores* more and that’s simply superb since there have been only a handful of films that have managed to score this much on their first Friday in 2024. The fact that the Sukumar directed film is doing that on its fourth Friday is a testimony to the tight grasp that it has now managed amongst audiences.

What’s all the more impressive is that the film is doing that when there is a new release Baby John in the running, as well as Hollywood’s Mufasa: The Lion King which has found an audience for itself. Still, there has been no stopping the film as it’s playing at a very good count of screens and shows, and is also the highest collecting film amongst all and that too by a distance.

The film has now also reached Rs. 748.25 crores* and as you read this, it has already crossed Rs. 750 crores mark. Today, the Allu Arjun starrer will jump huge and while Rs. 12-13 crores is certainly on the cards, it also has a chance to get into that Rs. 15-16 crores range. Tomorrow it would do that for sure, which means the film is all set to cross Rs. 775 crores by the time the weekend is through.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

Things are not looking good for Baby John. After struggling to get a fair opening on Friday when it somehow managed to get into a double digit score and collected Rs. 11.25 crores, it has been going downhill ever since. Thursday was poor at Rs. 5.13 crores and now Friday is even lower with just Rs. 4 crores* coming in.

It’s understandable that there was a drop on Thursday since it was a working day (though the fall was still bigger than expected), at least on Friday the film should have shown some kind of resurgence. That was the bare minimum requirement as well if the film needed to have any chance to get into a double digit game again on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened since Friday has now gone below even Rs. 5 crores mark. This is a clear indication that the film hasn’t been accepted by the audiences and now it would need a miracle to go past Rs. 10 crores mark even on Sunday.

The film has now barely crossed the Rs. 20 crores mark and that too after being in theatres for three days. Currently standing at Rs. 20.38 crores*, the best case scenario for the film would be to cross Rs. 35 crores at the close of its five days extended weekend. Post that, the next big milestone would be to surpass Rs. 50 crores mark, though considering the holiday season at least that will happen for sure.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

After collecting Rs. 11.25 crores on Wednesday, all eyes were on how the hold would look like on Thursday. As it is, the opening of the film wasn’t great and then from Christmas holiday to the next working day, a drop was on the cards. Yes, due to festive season on, the drop could well have been controlled. Still, with word of mouth being average at best, it was going to be a wait and watch situation.

Unfortunately, though, the results haven’t really been encouraging for the film as Thursday collections are only around Rs. 5 crores mark. Even with a drop on the cards, one would have expected at least Rs. 7-8 crores to come in after a Rs. 11.25 crores start. However, the numbers that have come in are much lesser at Rs. 5.13 crores.

All of this means that today even with some sort of growth on the cards, a double digit number would be tough to come by. That would need to wait for tomorrow and hopefully it would happen, though one waits to see if the Varun Dhawan starrer manages to better its Christmas Day numbers on Saturday or Sunday. So far, the Kalees directed film has collected Rs. 16.38 crores in two days and this should ideally have been the first day number at the bare minimum.

Yet another week, yet another record for Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi). In a year when lifetime total of so many biggies has failed to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark, Pushpa 2 (Hindi) has gone ahead and scored over Rs. 100 crores in its third week.

Yes, you read it right!

The film had surpassed Rs. 400 crores mark in its extended Week One. Then in the second week it scored a double century. And now in the third week it has scored a century. The manner in which it has been going, and especially considering the holiday season, it’s now set to score a big half century in the fourth week as well, something that no other film in the past has ever done. What’s all the more commendable is that the Allu Arjun starrer would be doing that when there is competition from both Hollywood (Mufasa: The Lion King) and Bollywood (Baby John).

On Thursday, the film went below the Rs. 10 crores mark for the first time in its run. Still, the numbers have been quite good with Rs. 9 crores coming in. However, Friday to Sunday period would be back to huge as the film will come in its own. So far, the Sukumar directed film has collected Rs. 740.25 crores and today it will accomplish yet another milestone of Rs. 750 crores with an entry into Rs. 800 Crore Club set to happen before the close of Week 4.

The Hindi version of Pushpa: The Rise, the first film in the franchise by Sukumar, released in December 2021 without much fanfare and that too with 50% occupancy rule because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It had a decent opening. However, the word-of-mouth started spreading and Allu Arjun starrer action entertainer turned out to be a sleeper hit in Hindi against all odds. Pushpa 2: The Rule, the second movie, has literally stormed the box office in Hindi as it’s all set to reach a mammoth score of Rs. 750 crores net in India itself.

But that’s not all. Pushpa 2 has also become a record breaker in the neighbourhood country of Nepal. Mythri Movie Makers, one of the producers of the film, have shared that the Allu Arjun starrer has become the highest grossing foreign film ever in the country and also one of the highest grossers ever over there.

The production house shared the news on social media saying, “#Pushpa2TheRule is now the HIGHEST GROSSING FOREIGN FILM EVER IN NEPAL with a gross of 24.75 CRORES in 20 days. It is one of the biggest blockbusters at the Nepal Box Office and is among the TOP 3 GROSSERS OF ALL TIME.” To see the Hindi dubbed version of a regional language film of India breaking records in Nepal is quite something.

Along with Mythri Movie Makers, Pushpa 2 is also produced by Sukumar Writings. It also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles.

The Varun Dhawan led Baby John has seen a drop in collections on 2nd Day, as the film has collected around Rs. 6 cr. to 6.50 cr. on the second day, taking total collections to Rs. 17.25 crore. The drop is around 45% as compared to the first day, and this is an alarming sign, as it was a must for the film to hold better and take benefit of the Christmas period.

The business will be at similar levels on Friday, and is expected to see a surge on Saturday and Sunday. With the present trends, the 5-day weekend of Baby John will be around the Rs. 40 crore mark, and then its on Monday to Wednesday to decide the lifetime business.

The reports are mixed and the business is impacted by the competition from Pushpa 2 in mass belts and Mufasa in the metros, but nonetheless, it should have done much better, as there are enough screens and audience to consume the film. The remake factor too has impacted the box office performance.

The holiday period will ensure some hold at the box office in the coming few days, but once that's gone, Baby John will have it tough at the ticket window.

Baby John managed to have a fair opening day as Rs. 11.25 crores came in. The target was to at least get into a double-digit score, and it managed to do that, though just about. This too was courtesy the evening shows because the manner in which the film had opened in the morning shows, it seemed like even hitting Rs. 10 crores would be touch and go. Thankfully, that has happened though.

Expectations though were for a lot more from the film. Even till the time the advance booking hadn’t opened, it had seemed that the film will get into that Rs. 13-15 crores range at least. After all, this one is a big film and moreover also arriving on a major national holiday of Christmas. In fact, at the time the teaser was out many months back, bets were also being placed on an opening day of Rs. 20-25 crores. However, as the film came closer to release, the expectations were kept under check. Moreover, no one had any clue that even in its third week, Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi) would be huge and then there would be competition from Hollywood’s Mufasa: The Lion King as well. That’s why the expectations were reset to Rs. 10-12 crores on the eve of release.

There is a lot of distance that the film needs to cover from here on. Today, there would be a drop in collections since it’s a working day though in parts, the holiday season has also begun, which means there could be a bit of benefit coming from there. However, on Friday the film would need to be really close to the opening day collections if the Varun Dhawan starrer has to be benefit from the weekend ahead.

It was simply a spectacular day for Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi) as it made the most of the Christmas holiday. The festive season has now officially kick started and what better way than to have a national holiday fall bang in the middle of the week. It takes care of the weekdays on the either sides and while Monday and Tuesday benefitted from this with double digit numbers, the after effects would be felt on Thursday as well.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, the film managed to go past that magical Rs. 15 crores mark all over again. This could well be the first Sunday collections of most of the biggies and they won’t mind that. However, these numbers are coming on the 21st day of the film’s run and that goes on to show the kind of sensation that the Allu Arjun starrer has turned out to be at a Pan-India level. To get to Rs. 15.50 crores at the close of its three week run is just unbelievable and one really waits to see which is that next film which will actually challenge such a run.

So far, the film has collected Rs. 731.25 crores and Rs. 800 crores would now be a cakewalk for the film. There is a huge holiday season ahead and with the weekend coming over and then January 1 holiday in the middle of next week, there are so many more double digits ahead for the film. In fact, Rs. 800 crores mark could well be crossed by January 1 itself and post that the next new milestone, which would be set for the film is Rs. 850 crores.

After Jawan, the next venture of Atlee, Baby John with Varun Dhawan has taken a decent start in India on Christmas Day. According to early estimates, Baby John has collected in the range of Rs. 13 crores to 13.5 crores on Wednesday, making it one of the biggest starts for non-franchise in post-pandemic times for a young hero.

The film has done business despite a fractured release all across the board due to fierce competition from Pushpa 2 and Mufasa. This was more like a three-way clash and yet the numbers are decent on the first day, but a 15-crore start would have made things even better.

There is a prolonged holiday period and that should help the film hit a century in India and emerge a success. The hold on Thursday is crucial as it's important for Baby John to collect Rs. 7.5 crores or more and then enter the weekend with the scope to grow and hit the Rs 50 crore mark in 5 days flat.

After scoring an unbelievable Monday of Rs. 11.75 crores, Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi) had a solid hold on Tuesday as Rs. 11.50 crores came in. There is hardly any day on day drop and the best part is that there have been two more double digit scores now over the weekdays. All of this means that this would be the first ever film in history to have three consecutive weeks of straight forward double digit days as today it will complete three weeks in theatres.

In fact, it was also expected that Tuesday would be a little better than Monday since it was Christmas eve. From that perspective, the collections are (relatively) lower than expected. Still, that’s all just from comparison standpoint because if one looks at standalone collections then what Pushpa 2 (Hindi) is currently doing can’t really be explained. To think of it, in a year where double digit collections on even first day have been difficult to come, this Sukumar directed film is still bringing in healthy scores on its 20th day.

Today should be huge all over again as it’s Christmas holiday and the film would be aiming for Rs. 20 crores. At the very least, it will still do Rs. 17-18 crores and that would be fantastic all over again. Yes, there is Mufasa: The Lion King playing as well and so is the new release Baby John. Still, it would be Pushpa 2 (Hindi) that will come up trumps. So far, the Allu Arjun starrer has collected Rs. 715.75 crores and today it will cross Rs. 730 crores with ease.

The Varun Dhawan led Baby John is recording decent trend in the advance booking as the action-packed entertainer has sold 50,000 tickets across the Top 3 national chains as on Tuesday at 7.45 PM. The film is looking to clock an overall advance booking of 65,000 tickets and take an opening around the Rs. 15 crore mark.

Baby John will end up scoring biggest advance booking for Varun Dhawan in the post pandemic time, better than his earlier 2 releases - Jug Jugg Jeeyo and Bhediya. The advance booking of Baby John will also be better than other releases of 2024 like Bad News (51,000 Tickets), Jigra (32,000 tickets) and Chandu Champion (31,000 tickets).

The three way clash with Pushpa 2 and Mufasa has taken a hit on the business of Baby John as without the competition the start could have been closer to the Rs. 20 crore mark, though even a start around the Rs. 15 crore mark will be good for the film in present scenario.

The Christmas holiday will boost the business, but the real value of double digit for non-franchise film with a younger hero is a good sign, and the hope is on the film to work with the masses. The single screens have a fractured release with little shows, but the film can fight back over the conventional Friday to Sunday weekend with the right reports.

Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi) is now officially the founding member of the Rs. 700 Crore Club. The film has achieved this feat in mere 19 days and with this there is a huge responsibility on films to follow. Such a milestone has never been achieved before in history where a film has collected as much in a single language. However, that has happened now with Pushpa 2 and the makers deserve a round of applause for creating a masala entertainer that managed to cut across boundaries.

What is truly unbelievable is that even the third Monday has stayed in a double-digit zone and even the most optimistic of people wouldn’t have imagined that despite a record-breaking run that the film has been enjoying on practically daily basis. On Friday, the film had scored Rs. 12.50 crores and now on Monday the collections have come to Rs. 11.75 crores. This means that there is no drop whatsoever because the ticket rates are anyways lower over the weekdays, which means the footfalls are pretty much the same.

This has resulted in the overall collections standing at Rs. 704.25 crores and today the collections are set to go higher because it’s Christmas eve. This means that Rs. 715 crores mark will be comfortably crossed by tonight and then a massive holiday period will begin from tomorrow. It would be a cakewalk for the Allu Arjun starrer to now enter the Rs. 800 Crore Club and one can’t put a number to where it will eventually conclude.

It was a low weekend for Vanvaas as Rs. 3.28 crores came in. Ideally, this should have been the first day numbers for the film and the weekend should have get into that Rs. 10-12 crores range. However, first and foremost the genre by itself has its limitations. Secondly, Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi) has been running riot and yet again took the biggest share amongst all films by accumulating a weekend of over Rs. 55 crores. As a result, Vanvaas had to make do with the best that it could gather in its first three days.

In any case, the opening day of the film was low at Rs. 73 lakhs and though collections did manage to touch Rs. 1.02 crore on Saturday, the growth was quite limited. There was similar trend on Sunday as well with collections growing nominally to Rs. 1.53 crore, as a result of which the overall weekend number stayed on to be underwhelming. Considering the fact that the film has seen theatrical release, box office collections are important and from that perspective, all eyes are now on whether Monday stays close to Friday collections at least.

The bigger issue ahead is that Baby John arrives mid-week on Wednesday itself and that will further turn out to be competition for Vanvaas. It’s not as much about screens or shows either since Vanvaas needs just a few of these allocated to it at reasonable slots to have an audience inflow. However, with so much happening around it already, the film will need a lot to go in its favour if it has to proceed well into the second week.

The highly anticipated sequel, Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun has taken the box office by storm. After releasing on December 5, the film, which saw unprecedented advance bookings across the country, created a storm at the box office. Now, after two weeks at the box office, Pushpa 2 has continued to hold strong with audience thronging theatres. Interestingly, after 18 days at the box office, Pushpa 2 has created a record of sorts with an unbroken streak of 18 consecutive days of double-digit collections. Directed by Sukumar, this blockbuster has cemented its place in the annals of Indian cinema with its exceptional performance, resonating across demographics and territories.

The journey of Pushpa 2 has been nothing short of phenomenal. From the word go, the film struck a chord with audiences, delivering jaw-dropping numbers. The lowest single-day collection for the film was on Day 16, bringing in Rs. 12.50 crore, a figure that many films would envy as their peak. On the other hand, the highest single-day collection was recorded on the first Saturday, with an astounding Rs. 74 crore pouring in, underscoring the film's unparalleled appeal.

The film's ability to maintain double-digit figures for 18 consecutive days speaks volumes about its widespread acceptance. Pushpa 2 has performed exceptionally well in both the domestic and international markets. In southern states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, the film witnessed packed theatres even on weekdays. Meanwhile, in the Hindi belt, Pushpa 2 continued to attract large crowds, further consolidating Allu Arjun's pan-India stardom.

The remarkable streak of double-digit earnings has added to Pushpa 2’s growing list of achievements. Its first-weekend collection alone shattered multiple records, and the subsequent weekdays have seen steady and robust numbers. The 18-day collection trend reflects not only the film's quality but also the brand loyalty Allu Arjun has cultivated since the first instalment.

With no signs of slowing down, Pushpa 2 is poised to cross more milestones in the coming weeks. The consistent double-digit earnings, even beyond the typical two-week window, suggest a long and lucrative box office run. All eyes are now on whether the film will surpass lifetime earnings of other Indian blockbusters and etch its name among the highest-grossing films of all time.

As Pushpa 2 continues its dominance, it’s evident that the era of Pushpa Raj is far from over. Fans can only wait in anticipation as the numbers roll in, solidifying the film’s legacy as a cinematic phenomenon.

Vanvaas showed some improvement in numbers on Saturday as it managed to cross Rs. 1 crore mark. The exact collections have come as Rs. 1.02 crore and that’s around 40% growth over Friday collections of Rs. 73 lakhs.

The film needed to jump much higher though and ideally 100% growth would have been a better bet. It’s a content film, which needs its own space and time to keep going on for weeks to come. However, since there is a lot of competition around it, the issue is not just with the choices that audiences have available for them but also the screen distribution, what with multiple films across languages vying for attention.

The Anil Sharma film has now reached Rs. 1.75 crore mark and while today the total will go past Rs. 3 crores mark for sure, a lot more is required for it to sail through. This Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma starter does carry merits and one just hopes that there is a turnaround sooner than later.

It was a decent start for Mufasa: The Lion King in India as Rs. 8 crores* came in. Not many films have taken this kind of an opening in 2024 and considering the fact that it’s an animation movie and still registered such numbers, it’s a relief indeed. It also goes on to show that Pushpa 2: The Rule is not the only film that will continue playing in this season and audiences are in mood to check out something else as well.

Yes, the film was expected to take a comfortable double digit start and, in fact, before the release of Pushpa 2, it was also being pegged as something that will comfortably go past the Rs. 15 crores mark on its opening day. After all, The Lion King (2019) had opened at Rs. 11.06 crores in pre-pandemic times and hence this prequel was expected to go or up over that, especially since it was a successful film. However, with Pushpa 2 continuing to be the leading running across board even in the third week, it’s still good enough that Mufasa has managed to keep its head high and was the second best.

The reports for the film are just about decent to good though, which means it will not break into something bigger. However, on the flip side, this is a festive time now due to an extended holiday season, which means a lifetime of around Rs. 80-90 crores is still on the cards.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

After scoring an ultra-huge extended first week that saw a staggering Rs. 433.50 crores coming in, Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi) had an astonishing second week as well that missed Rs. 200 crores mark by just one crore. As much as Rs. 199 crores came in the week gone by which is a huge record by a distance.

Now, the third week has started with a bang as well, what with yet another double digit day being scored. Rs. 12.50 crores more were accumulated on Friday and that’s not too far away from Thursday which had seen Rs. 14 crores been registered at the box office. Anything over Rs. 10 crores would have been superb for the film at the start of the third week and here the numbers are a bit higher than that. Moreover, today there would be a huge jump seen in collections and Rs. 20 crores mark will certainly be crossed, which would be just amazing. Then tomorrow the film will be aiming at Rs. 25 crores and rest assured, there are record numbers on the way for the Allu Arjun starrer.

There is no competition for the film in the Hindi circuits and this is where the film is anyways doing maximum business. There have been a few south movies that have arrived, which are doing quite well regionally. Still, at an all-India level, it’s Pushpa 2 (Hindi) that would be ruling the charts all over. With Rs. 645 crores in its kitty so far, the film will come close to Rs. 700 crores before it steps into the weekdays.

It was a slow start for Vanvaas as Rs. 73 lakhs came on first day. This isn’t entirely surprising since the film was as it is dependent entirely on word of mouth due to its theme and cast. Yes, Anil Sharma is at the director’s seat but then he is known more for his high decibel big budget action dramas whereas this one is more of an intimate family drama about parents turning old. Hence, at least from the opening perspective, the footfalls were always going to be limited.

Still, on a regular Friday, one would have expected an opening day number on the lines of Uunchai. The Amitabh Bachchan led family drama had taken an opening of Rs. 1.81 crore which shows the kind of limitation that this genre has. Hence, the best case scenario for Vanvaas too was Rs. 1.50-2 crores. However, with Pushpa 2: The Rule wave being way too strong, which is keeping other films at bay in the third week as well, it was always going to pose a huge challenge to any other smaller release. Moreover, there is Mufasa: The Lion King which has released as well and that too ironically is also the second choice at best for the patrons.

One now waits to see if this Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma starter manages to grow well on the basis of word of mouth. Ideally, the numbers would need to double up today so that there is some kind of momentum that picks up. If the growth is only around 50% then it would be tough since there is going to be further competition ahead in the form of Baby John which arrives mid-Week on Wednesday, 25th December.

The Disney Live Action film, Mufasa: The Lion King has taken a good start in India, as the film has collected in the range of Rs. 9 to 9.50 crores on the first day. The film has done the best business in Telugu version, where the business got benefit due to the dubbing done by Mahesh Babu. The second best-performing version is Hindi, due to the Shah Rukh Khan factor followed by English.

Being a kids friendly film, the collections will see a spike on Saturday and Sunday, and the Hollywood film is looking to pack a solid punch with business around the Rs. 35 crore mark. It's the holiday period and with the support of family audience, Mufasa is expected to record a strong trend in through the new year period and enter the Rs. 100 crore club at the box office.

The film has faced competition from Pushpa 2 on the first day, as the Allu Arjun starrer has also collected around the Rs. 12 crore mark on Day 16, and there will be even more drop in showcasing on December 25, owing to the release of Baby John.

Yet, there is enough for Mufasa to hit the bull's eye at the box office in India.

Pushpa 2 – The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, that released on December 5, 2024 has been doing roaring business. After witnessing an immense rate of advance bookings, the business of the film roared on day 1 with staggering collections. Surrounded with immense hype and anticipation, Pushpa 2 has not just dominated the box office but has also rewritten records in its first two weeks of release. The film has crossed a monumental Rs. 632.50 crore mark in just 15 days, making it the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, surpassing the Rajkummar Rao – Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2, which previously held the record. This achievement is all the more impressive considering that Pushpa 2 is primarily a Telugu film dubbed in Hindi, and it continues to captivate audiences across India and abroad.

Released on a Thursday, Pushpa 2 – The Rule opened to a massive reception, with fans eagerly flocking to theatres to witness Allu Arjun’s return as the iconic Pushpa Raj. The film made an incredible ₹433.50 crore in its first week alone, despite being released during a relatively less favourable time in terms of competition.

The film's debut was nothing short of phenomenal. By the end of its first week (8 days), Pushpa 2 had already grossed Rs. 433.50 crore globally, with a significant contribution from the Hindi belt. The film's Hindi version alone amassed a staggering Rs. 250 crore in the opening week, signalling the growing fanbase of Allu Arjun outside of South India. This number broke several records for a South Indian film in the Hindi market, firmly establishing Allu Arjun as a pan-Indian star.

The film’s gripping narrative, powerful performances, and mass appeal coupled with stellar action sequences drove audiences to theatres, leading to a consistently strong box office performance. With positive word-of-mouth and high demand for repeat viewings, Pushpa 2 not only set a box office benchmark but also generated significant buzz on social media, further propelling its success.

Even after the euphoria of the opening week, Pushpa 2 continued to perform exceptionally well in its second week. The film collected Rs. 199 crore globally in its second week, further consolidating its place in the history of Indian cinema. While the collections saw a slight dip in the second week, this was expected as most films experience a drop after the opening wave. However, given the intense competition from other big-budget releases, the numbers are still a testament to the film's massive appeal.

In just 15 days, Pushpa 2 – The Rule has grossed Rs. 632.50 crore globally, making it the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. This milestone surpasses Stree 2, which had previously held the record with a lifetime gross of Rs. 600 crore. For a film that is not a traditional Hindi-language production, this is an extraordinary feat.

The film's success is also a reflection of the growing demand for South Indian cinema across the country. The Hindi-speaking audience has increasingly embraced films dubbed from regional languages, and Pushpa 2 is a prime example of how language barriers are being broken down in the Indian film industry.

As Pushpa 2 continues to perform at an impressive pace, the film's overall lifetime collections are expected to rise significantly, with the possibility of crossing the Rs. 700 crore mark in the coming weeks. Its success has already set the stage for a potential third installment, and fans are eagerly awaiting what’s next in the saga of Pushpa Raj.

Pushpa 2 – The Rule Box Office at a glance:

Week 1: Rs.  433.50 cr [8 days; Thursday release]
