Vikram Vedha Box Office: Film is fair on Monday, PS-1 (Hindi) hangs on
It was an overall low day at theatres as less than 10 crores came between the new and holdover releases. With Vikram Vedha and PS-1 (Hindi) in the fray, one would have expected Monday to be at least Rs. 10 crores. Of course that was before Friday when the films hadn’t released and hence there were bigger hopes. However the trending over the weekend had indicated that the hold would be only around the 50% mark and that’s what happened for the bigger release of the week, Vikram Vedha.
The film collected Rs. 5.25 crores* on Monday and that’s quite ordinary considering Friday was as it is low at Rs. 10.58 crores. For a biggie like this, ideally Monday should have been Rs. 10 crores and even after a start like this, bare minimum score of Rs. 7 crores was on the cards. Of course all of this would have been possible had the weekend shown good growth but since that didn’t happen in the first place, all that one hoped was that there was no crash. Thankfully that didn’t happen which means on strictly absolute numbers perspective, Vikram Vedha is at least in race to go past the lifetime score of JugJugg Jeeyo.
Meanwhile PS-1 (Hindi) would be hoping to go the Karthikeya 2 (Hindi) way. After a weekend of Rs. 7.50 crores, the south dubbed release collected Rs. 1.50 crores* more, which is quite fair in fact. The start was Rs. 1.85 crores on Friday which means at least there is a good hold on Monday. It’s just that the numbers are on a lower side and hence it needs to keep collecting regularly at these levels and not take any fall whatsoever. The film should eventually have a lifetime of around Rs. 22-25 crores, though it would be aiming to ultimately go past Rs. 30 crores total of Karthikeya 2 (Hindi).
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
