Liger Overseas Box Office: Film sees drop in business on Day 2 at North America box office

The Vijay Deverakonda – Ananya Panday starrer Liger directed by Puri Jagannadh hit screens this week. After much talk and promotions, the film opened to a rather tepid start at the domestic box office. However, in the overseas markets, Liger started off on a decent note. But on its second day at the North America box office, the business of the film has seen a decline.

After crossing the USD 500K mark on Day 1, the business of Liger saw a sharp decline. Collecting USD 88,388 [Rs. 66.67 lakhs] from 347 screens, the movie witnessed a nearly 81% drop in collections from Day 1 at the U.S.A box office. Similarly, at the Canada box office, Liger managed to draw in USD 8,734 [Rs. 6.98 lakhs] from 19 screens roughly translating to a 61% drop in collections. With this, the total collections of Liger at the North America box office are pegged at USD 597,054 [Rs. 4.77 cr.] at the end of its second day running.

Looking at the marginal increase of 18% from its first day of business it seems like the negative word of mouth for the film has had a drastic effect on its business. Going further, Liger faces an uphill task at the box office to post increasing collections. However, trade remains optimistic claiming that the business of Liger will see growth over its first Saturday and Sunday in theatres.
