Liger has taken an excellent start at the box office as it proved to be actor, Vijay Deverakonda's biggest opener till date by surpassing films like Dear Comrade and World Famous Lover. The movie has collected Rs. 19 crores gross on the opening day, including the numbers from Paid Previews in Hindi Belts, which is a very good result if we look at it as a Vijay Deverakonda film. It clocked around Rs. 15 crores gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Rs. 2.25 crores gross in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala and finally, Rs. 1.75 crores gross in Hindi belts.

The film opened to packed houses in the morning shows but due to the negative audience buzz, there was a drop in occupancy from the evening shows. The worldwide rights of Liger have been sold for Rs. 90 crores, and hence, it's a long and tough road ahead for this Vijay Deverakonda film. If the collections drop more than expected on Friday, the stakeholders stand a chance to lose a lot of money.

Liger is seeing a release in Hindi on Friday and that should balance out the overall drop percentage for the film, though Telugu to Telugu drop percent is what would count. The film has taken a good start in paid previews in the Hindi belts, with Rs. 1.30 crore plus nett on Day 1. The team missed out on a golden opportunity of bringing it in Hindi on Thursday as it might have actually taken a Rs. 5 crore plus start at the box office with Hindi dubbed version.
