It was a superb Week One for Tumbbad as Rs. 13.44 crores came in. These are by far the best ever collections for a re-released film in the modern era. There was Rockstar that made waves a few months back and then recently Laila Majnu did well too. However, their lifetime score stayed under Rs. 10 crores mark. However, given the manner in which Tumbbad is currently doing, it will easily go past the Rs. 25 crores mark in its lifetime.

What has really worked for this fantasy horror film is the fact that Sohum Shah treated this like a new film release and went all out to market and promote it, and that too in an intelligent manner. There was a tight two-week campaign for the film and the creatives along with video content that was presented before the audiences was remarkable. Moreover, the target footfalls were meticulously planned. It was a known fact that to begin with the film would need to cater to key multiplexes at the urban centres and that’s why there was a lot of focus on digital media, something that ensured that the film reached out to the right set of people.

No wonder, the first week is now almost the same as the entire lifetime collections of the original release in 2018. Back then the film had collected Rs. 13.57 crores in its entire run and now the first week numbers itself are on the same lines. Today being National Cinema Day, the film is already registering brisk sales and will lend further momentum to its impressive run.

Tumbbad is not slowing down at all. After taking an opening of Rs. 1.65 crores on Friday, and then growing quite well over the weekend, the film has been staying very consistent at the box office. If Monday (Rs. 1.69 crore) and Tuesday (Rs. 1.66 crore) were bigger than Friday, then Wednesday is quite good too with the collections coming to Rs. 1.42 crore.

This is quite good because all it needs to do now is stay around the same mark today and then see a very good jump tomorrow. With National Cinema Day leading to tickets being sold at just Rs. 99, there is bound to be good momentum that the film will pick up. At least Rs. 2-2.50 crores are pretty much on the cards here, though a higher number can’t be ruled out. That would be good enough to give the film a much-needed push at the box office for the remainder of the weekend.

As of now, Tumbbad has collected Rs. 12.11 crores and rest assured, if not by tonight then by tomorrow morning it will cross the lifetime numbers of its original run, Rs. 13.57 crores. In fact, it won’t be entirely surprising if the film ends up doubling this number in the renewed run, which means an overall lifetime in excess of Rs. 40 crores which will make it a clean hit.

It was an excellent Monday for Tumbbad as the collections were even better than the opening day. On Friday the film had collected Rs. 1.65 crores and now on Monday Rs. 1.69 crores have come in. Anything above Rs. 1 crore would have been decent and what the film has actually achieved is superb, as it signifies that now it will stay in circulation comfortably till Dusshehra.

The Sohum Shah starrer has now gathered Rs. 9.03 crores and by evening it will get into a double digit score. The film should stay on top of Rs. 1.50 crore mark right till Thursday and then second Friday is bound to be bigger than the first Friday due to National Cinema Day. This means that the lifetime of this horror fantasy film will comfortably go past the Rs. 25 crores mark, which will make it a good success.

This also means that the trend will now begin for many films from the past to re-release. A word of caution though - This path needs to be treaded carefully. It makes sense to revive only those films which have “not been too successful” at the box office but have either gained cult status over the years or become popular in pop culture. If every filmmaker starts reviving their offerings from the past with just a nostalgic value attached to it, or in the hope that their flop will now turn into a hit, then this trend too will die as quickly as it has begun.

Tumbbad has seen a good weekend at the box office. The film did well on the very first day when Rs. 1.65 crore came in and ever since then saw a gradual increase in collections on a daily basis. As a result, Sunday went over Rs. 3 crores mark with Rs. 3.04 crores being accumulated at the box office. This may seem like a small number but one needs to consider the fact that we are talking about a re-release here and that too for a controlled release in select shows at the chosen multiplexes.

As a matter of fact, several shows of the film have gone houseful as well and that was heartening to see. If not for Stree 2, situation at theatres would have been really bad in the last few weeks and now in its own little way, Tumbbad is managing to keep, at least, a segment of theatres occupied, something that will stay on to be the case for rest of the month as well. The horror film with Sohum Shah leading the charge has minted Rs. 7.34 crores so far and that’s more than what it had collected in its entire first week (Rs. 5.85 crores) during its original release in 2018.

Filmmaker Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor has turned out to be the biggest surprise of the year at the box office. There were expectations from the film after the first one in the series Stree (2018) being a hit. But not many would have expected the movie to near the huge milestone of Rs. 600 crores at the India box office.

Stree 2 recently completed its fifth weekend, and this has ensured that the film has crossed another major milestone. The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer has broken the record of the highest fifth weekend score at the India box office as the movie made a strong Rs. 16 crores in that period.

In doing so, Stree 2 has overtaken some of the biggest blockbusters. The previous record for the fifth weekend was held by Uri: The Surgical Strike with Rs. 12.50 crores. Stree 2 and Uri are the only two films on the list to have scored in double figures in the fifth weekend. These two films are followed by Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (Rs. 7.36 crores), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi, Rs. 6.97 crores), Jawan (Rs. 6.45 crores), KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi version, Rs. 6.35 crores) and Kantara (Hindi, Rs. 6.25 crores).

Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and Jio Studious and also starring Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee, the current score of Stree 2 is a humongous Rs. 580.18 crores.

Highest 5th weekend grossers at a glance:

Stree 2 – Rs. 16 crores

Uri: The Surgical Strike – Rs. 12.50 crores

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior – Rs. 7.36 crores

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – Rs. 6.97 crores

Jawan – Rs. 6.45 crores

KGF Chapter 2 – Rs. 6.35 crores

Kantara – Rs. 6.25 crores

The Kareena Kapoor Khan led The Buckingham Murders has take a dull start at the box office in India. According to early estimates, The Buckingham Murders has collected in the range of Rs. 1.15 to 1.35 crores on the opening day, putting the vibe of trade back in the unhappy space.

The film has seen a limited release in India on just 700 screens and will be looking to see a jump in business over the weekend. The Hansal Mehta directorial will look to double up on Saturday and target an opening weekend of Rs. 6 crores. It will then boil down to the Monday test for this Ekta Kapoor production.

The Buckingham Murders has taken a dull start due to the trailer, which had the vibe of a direct to digital product. The film looked like a poor product from the word go and Kareena Kapoor's presence has pushed the business to the upside of Rs. 1 crore.

Its a failure but we need to see if it can reach a facesaving result by end of its run.

It was a very good fourth week for Stree 2 as collections remained impressive right through. In fact, from Monday to Wednesday they stayed consistently over Rs. 3 crores mark and though it would have been an even happier scenario had the situation remained the same on Thursday as well, the trending had indicated that for the first time in its run the film will go below Rs. 3 crores milestone.

This is what happened too as Rs. 2.90 crores came on Thursday. Unlike the week before when weekday trending was at a higher trajectory, the film followed more of a regular expected trajectory this week. Still, the collections are by and large quite good and though today too the film will stay under the Rs. 3 crores mark (unless the BOGO offer ends up resulting in a sudden surge), tomorrow and day after there would be a rise all over again and the numbers may well end up being on top of the Rs. 5 crores mark.

The film has now also collected Rs. 564.18 crores and is just Rs. 20 crores away from going past the Jawan (Hindi) lifetime of Rs. 584 crores. More than half of this number would be surpassed by close of this weekend itself and then it will most likely be the top grossing Hindi release ever by the time the fifth week comes to a close.

Stree 2 is continuing to show good hold on weekdays as Tuesday numbers came to Rs. 3.20 crores. Monday collections were Rs. 3.60 crores, so it’s a nominal 10% drop, and also on expected lines. The good part is that the numbers are still in excess of Rs. 3 crores and that’s what the film would be aiming for today and tomorrow as well.

This should stay on to be the case as well unless something really surprising happens in these couple of days. The film has been showing good trending all this while and with zero competition around it, it’s going to be remain the same for next few days as well. Yes, there is The Buckingham Murders coming in as well, but Stree 2 will still continue to retain screens as appropriate and then again go on an overdrive over the weekend.

The horror comedy has now reached Rs. 558.24 crores and will go past Rs. 565 crores comfortably by the close of week. In fact, it has already crossed the lifetime number of Animal (Hindi) (Rs. 556.36 crores) which means the only frontier it needs to cross is that of Jawan (Hindi) lifetime, which is not too far away.

After seeing double digit collections on Sunday, a drop was inevitable for Stree 2 on Monday. All that had to be seen was whether it’s a 50% drop from Friday or lesser than that. As it turned out, it was a controlled drop as after bringing in Rs. 4.84 crores on Friday, the film did stay over Rs. 3 crores mark on Monday as 3.60 crores came in.

This is reasonable because if somehow the film manages more than Rs. 3 crores today as well, then it will remain the same for the next two days as well, hence ensuring moolah in the range of Rs. 12 crores. Even in the worst-case scenario, double digit weekdays will be there for the taking but since right now competition is with the Hindi lifetime collections of Jawan, every crore counts.

The horror comedy has now collected Rs. 555.04 crores and would be aiming to get into that Rs. 563-564 crores range by the time the fourth week is through. Post that around Rs. 15 crores more are expected in the fifth weekend which means lifetime collections of Jawan (Hindi), which stand at Rs. 584 crores, will be pretty much crossed by the close of fifth week.

The next big milestone has been achieved by Stree 2. The film has now crossed the elusive Rs. 550 crores milestone and that too after fourth weekend itself. The horror comedy currently stands at Rs. 551.44 crores and the next film it would be aiming to go past is Animal which had collected Rs. 556.36 crores in its Hindi version. That would be accomplished by tomorrow itself and then it’s race to go past the lifetime score of Jawan (Hindi) (Rs. 584 crores) will begin.

The film saw good trending over the weekend with Sunday seeing some growth as well after an 80%+ jump on Saturday. As a result, it found itself back in the double digits zone, something that had previously happened on last Sunday. The score stood at Rs. 11.40 crores and this will be pretty much it for the film when it comes to a double-digit score for the rest of its run. The only day when this may happen again is Cinema Lover’s Day later this month but by and large, the aim would now be to keep collecting in the upwards of Rs. 3 crores for rest of the weekdays before seeing a surge all over again over the weekend.

All eyes are now on the announcement of Stree 3. Since Stree 2 has now over-performed to such a great extent with its lifetime set to be more than four times that of Stree, the pressure would be on Stree 3 to be simply extraordinary. Whenever it arrives, it will take a bumper start for sure. However, it would be the content that would help it cover the kind of distance that Stree 2 has.

In 22 days (plus paid previews), Stree 2 has surpassed the lifetime collections of Pathaan (Hindi) (Rs. 524.25 crores) and Gadar 2 (524.45 crores). This isn’t something that no one could have ever seen coming but then it has happened indeed and made everyone stand up and notice the kind of mayhem that the horror comedy has turned out to be.

The film stayed over Rs. 5 crores mark on each of the weekdays and even on Thursday brought in Rs. 5.70 crores. That’s terrific since there was this Monday to Tuesday drop that was more than expected by ever since then the film has been quite stable. As a result, the current total of the film has reached Rs. 526.43 crores and in the process two of the biggest all time mega blockbusters of all time have been left behind already. Yes, Pathaan did more of one accounts for other languages as well but then even that number would be surpassed by the close of this weekend.

The next two targets for the film are Animal (Hindi) (Rs. 556.36 crores) and Jawan (Hindi) – Rs. 584 crores. While former would be surpassed before the close of the coming week, latter too would be challenged in a big way in the time duration that Stree 2 is playing in theatres. Since there isn’t any major competition whatsoever from Hindi films for next couple of months, there are all the chances that Stree 2 would be the biggest Bollywood grosser ever.

The greatest superstar of Tamil Cinema, Thalapathy Vijay, arrived on the big screen today with the Venkat Prabhu directed The GOAT. The film has opened to bumper response at the box office in India, as the film has recorded houseful boards nationwide. According to early estimates, The GOAT has collected in the range of Rs. 54 to 56 crores on the opening day in India.

Of this, approximately Rs. 37 crores has come in from Tamil Nadu, with other Rs. 18 crores coming in from Rest of India. The film is the 2nd biggest opener of all India for a film from Tamil Nadu, just after another Thalapathy Vijay film, Leo.

Globally, the estimates have indicated a start of Rs. 110 crore, marking it the 2nd Vijay film to open at Rs. 100 crores across the world. Being Thalapathy Vijay's 2nd last film, The GOAT is expected to emerge a blockbuster of epic proportions and end up finding a place in the top 5 grossers of all time.

The GOAT has taken the biggest opening for a Tamil film in 2024 and will become the grossing Tamil film of all time in 2 days flat.

Stree 2 saw a rare day on day drop in collections as Rs. 5.65 crores came in. This was after Monday had held on quite well with Rs. 7.05 crores in its kitty. Actually, if one looks at Friday (Rs. 9.25 crores) to Tuesday progression then it’s rather good. It’s just that Monday was so good that now Tuesday looks relatively lesser, though as a stand-alone number it’s fine.

As a matter of fact, for a fourth Monday, a score in excess of Rs. 5 crores is rather impressive. Today too the film should stay over Rs. 5 crores mark, though tomorrow the numbers may get into the Rs. 4 crores zone. This also means that though it had earlier seemed that at least Rs. 25 crores will comfortably come in during the weekdays, this won’t be the case now, though more than Rs. 20 crores are coming for sure.

The overall numbers are still quite fantastic at Rs. 515.05 crores and while Rs. 600 crores is still in contention, one just hopes that drop as evidenced yesterday doesn’t get repeated today and tomorrow, because otherwise it will primarily become a weekend accumulator. For an entry into the Rs. 600 Crores Club, weekday collections are quite important too and the trending for that would be known during rest of the week.

After scoring a record weekend at the box office, Stree 2 has started even weekdays on a fantastic note. The numbers are simply superb on Monday, what with 7.05 crores coming in. Had the collections been in the whereabouts of 5-6 crores then even that would have been amazing. However the fact that they are much closer to Friday collections of 9.25 crores goes on to show that audiences have lapped the movie with open arms, and how.

A number in excess of 7 crores on Monday shows that the weekdays again would contribute at least 25 crores which means the third week will now comfortably go past the 70 crores mark, which is unbelievable and unprecedented. This is in fact a mind blowing Friday to Monday hold, and with weekdays set to be super strong, one can’t even imagine how the fourth weekend is going to look like. In fact even in the worst case scenario, at least 25-30 crores more will come in again by close of next weekend, which means 50 crores more are set to be collected in a jiffy.

All of this is setting up the film well to set up the 600 Crore Club from just one language and that’s going to be a record. Last year when four films went past the 500 crores mark then many wondered whether there would be a film in 2024 that will reach there. However, Stree 2 has done that in a jiffy already and with 509.40 crores in its kitty already, one just can’t put a final number on the film’s box office results as yet.

The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 continues to make history at the box office. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the horror-comedy sequel has become a box office phenomenon since its release, and its stellar third weekend performance has propelled it into record-breaking territory.

Third Weekend Triumph: During its third weekend, Stree 2 pulled in a remarkable Rs. 48.75 crore, surpassing some of the biggest Hindi cinema blockbusters of recent years. By doing so, it has not only cemented itself as the highest third weekend grosser of all time but also created waves across the industry. Its performance is especially significant because many films typically see a considerable drop in collections by their third weekend, but Stree 2 has defied the norm, showing sustained interest and widespread appeal.

Comparative Look: In just three weekends, Stree 2 that collected Rs. 48.75 cr has outpaced all-time heavyweights, shattering the seven-year-old record held by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion Rs. 42.55 cr. The film’s engaging mix of horror and comedy has clearly struck a chord with audiences, resulting in an unprecedented third-weekend performance. Despite being a pan-Indian blockbuster, Baahubali 2 was dethroned by Stree 2 in the third weekend gross category. When Baahubali 2 released in 2017, it was hailed for setting high box office standards, but now, Stree 2 has redefined what is possible for a Hindi film.

Besides Baahubali 2, Stree 2 has surpassed Gadar 2, a sequel to one of Bollywood’s most iconic films, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, another highly anticipated release, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which was one of the biggest releases of its year, and other films that have been left trailing in the wake are Dangal, Pathaan, and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.

Box Office Milestones: The box office journey of Stree 2 has been nothing short of extraordinary. The film opened to an explosive start, crossing the Rs. 100 crore mark by the end of its first weekend. Its strong word of mouth and appeal across demographics helped it maintain steady footfalls throughout its second week, and by the end of the second weekend, Stree 2 had easily crossed the Rs. 200 crore mark.

The third weekend, however, was where Stree 2 truly made its mark, adding Rs. 48.75 crore to its tally, pushing its total collections well past the Rs. 500 crore mark. With this, Stree 2 joins the exclusive Rs. 500 crore club, a monumental achievement for any film, and especially significant for a horror-comedy.

Baahubali 2’s Seven-Year Record: Until now, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion had held the record for the highest third-weekend collections in Hindi cinema with Rs. 42.55 crore. Released in 2017, the film was considered untouchable in terms of box office performance. However, Stree 2’s massive popularity has shattered this perception, with its Rs. 48.75 crore third-weekend gross leaving Baahubali 2 behind.

This is no small feat, considering Baahubali 2 was a multi-language release that attracted a massive audience across India. Stree 2, a Hindi-only film, outperforming such a juggernaut speaks volumes about its widespread appeal and the powerful storytelling that connects deeply with audiences.

Eyes on the Future Prize: With its extraordinary third weekend, Stree 2 is now setting its sights on becoming the highest-grossing film in Hindi cinema. The current titleholder is Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which amassed massive collections in its initial weeks. However, with the consistent and impressive performance of Stree 2, industry analysts believe it could potentially surpass Jawan’s lifetime gross.

Stree 2 is benefitting from its perfect mix of thrilling entertainment and humor, and with minimal competition at the box office, its steady growth shows no signs of slowing down. If it continues its current trajectory, Stree 2 might just end up rewriting the history books, challenging Jawan for the title of the highest-grossing Hindi film ever.

To 10 All-Time Highest Third Weekend Grosser Stree 2 - Rs. 48.75 cr Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion - Rs. 42.55 cr Gadar 2 - Rs. 36.95 cr Animal - Rs. 34.95 cr Jawan - Rs. 34.81 cr Dangal - Rs. 31.79 cr Pathaan - Rs. 30.15 cr Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior - Rs. 27.48 cr The Kerala Story - Rs. 27.35 cr PK - Rs. 26.75 cr

It was a huge Saturday for Stree 2 as a massive Rs. 17.40 crores more came in. Clearly, the film is winning over new audiences on a daily basis and it’s certainly not done yet. The film is much more than just the opening weekend or festival period phenomenon as now it’s doing well even on regular days and that too in its third week.

In fact, majority films this year which have turned out to be successes have struggled to score as much in their entire second week as Stree 2 has done on its third Saturday, which pretty much tells the tale. The film has been scoring on high double digits and with some push today, it could even go past the Rs. 20 crores mark. As matter of fact, last Sunday was ultra-huge when Rs. 40 crores milestone was crossed, something that was also aided by the fact that Monday was a partial holiday of Janamasthami. There is no such holiday period ahead for the film now but still even if there is regular Saturday to Sunday growth today, then this feat could well be accomplished.

This would mean that the film would then be in a real chance to cross the Rs. 500 crores mark by the close of third weekend itself. It has already clocked Rs. 480.25 crores, which is a huge total and anything around Rs. 20 crores will set it up for the Big Boys Club, which is currently dominated by Pathaan, Gadar 2, Jawan, Animal and Baahubali: The Conclusion.

After getting into the single digits for the first time in its run on Thursday when Rs. 9.10 crores had come in, Stree 2 continues to score a single digit as Rs. 9.25 crores came at the box office. This was on the cards as well as there was no new notable release this Friday and hence the ground was wide open for Stree 2 to make merry. Lack of new competition has turned out to a real boon for the film since last week as it has been having a rather uninterrupted run.

The film has collected Rs. 462.85 crores already and what’s to be seen is whether over Rs. 38 crores come between today and tomorrow to give it a chance of entering the Rs. 500 Crores Club over the weekend itself. Last weekend, the film had seen huge growth from Friday to Saturday with collections almost doubling up. If that miracle happens all over again this weekend, then Rs. 500 crores is set to be surpassed by Sunday.

However, if the growth is regular like 50%-60% then this would take time because, unlike last two Sundays when Mondays were Rakshabandhan and Janmaashtami holidays (due to which collections continued to be good in the evening and night shows as well), there isn’t any festival this Monday which means Sunday growth over Saturday would be nominal.

Nonetheless, this has turned out to be a huge haul for Stree 2 and pretty soon it would be time for all involved to pop the champagne. The exhibition sector really needed a big one to keep theatres in circulation during this dull time period and the horror comedy has come as a pleasant surprise for everyone as a whiff of fresh air.

The Indian box office has long been the battleground for cinematic giants, with each blockbuster vying to set new records. Among the many milestones a film can achieve, maintaining a streak of double-digit earnings over consecutive days is one of the most telling indicators of its mass appeal and staying power. Topping this list is the monumental success of Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion, which maintained its double-digit daily box office collection for an astonishing 17 days. But now, a new contender is on the horizon - Stree 2.

Stree 2 starring Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the highly anticipated sequel to the sleeper hit Stree, has already surprised many by staying in the double digits for 14 consecutive days. This feat places it in close contention with some of Bollywood's biggest blockbusters, like Jawan and Gadar 2. The question on everyone's mind is whether Stree 2 has what it takes to overtake Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion and set a new record.

The success of Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion is a testament to its universal appeal, cinematic grandeur, and the sheer scale of its storytelling. The film captivated audiences across the country, creating a phenomenon that transcended regional boundaries. To surpass a record like this requires not only a strong narrative and star power but also a consistent flow of audience turnout, something that only a film with widespread and lasting appeal can achieve.

Stree 2 has several factors working in its favor. The original Stree was a unique blend of horror and comedy that struck a chord with audiences, leading to high expectations for its sequel. With a well-established fanbase, the sequel has managed to capture and maintain audience interest, resulting in its impressive 14-day streak. Moreover, the film's timing might also play a crucial role. With no major competition from other releases in the immediate weeks, Stree 2 could continue its strong run.

However, surpassing the record set by Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion will be no easy task. The next few days are critical for Stree 2, as it needs to sustain its momentum to close the three-day gap and inch closer to making history. While challenging, it is not entirely out of reach. The film's unique mix of humor, horror, and relatable characters gives it the potential to draw repeat viewers, which could be the key to extending its streak.

In the unpredictable world of box office collections, nothing is set in stone. Stree 2 may just have the right mix of elements to pull off what many consider impossible. Whether it succeeds in breaking Baahubali 2's record or not, its performance so far has already cemented its place as one of Bollywood's most significant successes in recent years.

Top Bollywood movies with consecutive days of double-digit collections Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion – 17 days Stree 2 – 14 days Jawan – 13 days Gadar 2 – 13 days Animal - 12 days Pathaan – 12 days K.G.F - Chapter 2 – 11 days PK – 11 days Tiger Zinda Hai – 11 days Sanju – 10 days Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 10 days

It was yet another fantastic day for Stree 2 as collections stayed in double digits all over again. The holiday effect is over now, and this was the 14th day of the film (considering its Thursday release) and still the collections have managed to be super stable. In the times when to get a double-digit score on the very first day is a task, Stree 2 has managed that on its second Wednesday and that’s remarkable indeed.

The film brought in Rs. 10.40 crores more on Wednesday and though that’s a drop when compared to Tuesday collections of Rs. 12.15 crores, it’s still well under control. Yes, something around Rs. 11 crores would have given the film a chance to have yet another double-digit day today but now that would be difficult which means for the first time in its run (barring paid previews on first Wednesday night) it will get into single digits. Post that it would be interesting to see if Friday jumps back into double digits though Saturday and Sunday will be huge.

In terms of its overall total, the film has now collected Rs. 444.50 crores, which is super huge. In the process, it has also crossed the lifetime collections of KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi) which stood at Rs. 434.70 crores. The horror comedy has managed that in just 14 days, which is outstanding. There is a lot more that’s coming the film’s way and today it will achieve yet another milestone of Rs. 450 crores being crossed.

All time blockbuster.

It was a fantastic Tuesday for Stree 2 as Rs. 12.25 crores came in. Anything over Rs. 10 crores would have been a very good number and here the film has managed a bit more. The film has been doing superb business ever since release and even though Friday (Rs. 19.30 crores) to Tuesday number may suggest a drop, the fact remains that there has been over performance on each of the days and now with the long weekend cooking to a close, the collections are basically normalising.

Meanwhile, the film has now collected Rs. 434.10 crores and there are still two more days remaining in the week. Since the film had released on a Thursday, the close of current week would mean a 15 day run for the film. During this time duration, it would cross one more major milestone that of Rs. 450 crores total. Yes, there were paid preview shows on its first Wednesday which helped the cause as well but still, the fact remains that a rapid move towards the Rs. 450 crores mark has set it up so very well for Rs. 500 crores landmark.

From the ROI perspective, this is the biggest all time blockbuster in the current era. It’s not just in India where the film has done do well; even at overseas the film is crossing Rs. 100 crores mark, which is simply brilliant. Stree 2 has been a jackpot for all involved and one now waits to see how big does Stree 3 turn out to be.

It was a super strong Monday for Stree 2 as a massive Rs. 20.20 crores came all over again. That’s an unbelievable number for a Monday but then the records are speaking for themselves. The footfalls are just not ceasing for the film and then the partial holiday of Janmashtami further helped its cause. Right through the day the footfalls were quite good and then even though there was a bit of a slowdown in the late evening and night shows (due to long weekend coming to a close), the numbers were still huge enough to cross Rs. 20 crores milestone.

From here on, it would be about how quickly does the film reach the Rs. 500 crores mark. An entry into the Rs. 500 Crores Club is a given for the film and that will also happen in a really quick time. After all, in just 12 days the film has already accumulated Rs. 421.85 crores and there are no words to describe the feat that has been managed here. Moreover, the momentum is pretty much on the film’s side, which means it’s not going to slow down as yet. In fact, it’s a given that around Rs. 30 crores more would be easily added to the film’s total by the time the third weekend kick starts.

In the process, it will also cross KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi) lifetime of Rs. 434.70 crores. Stree 2 has already collected Rs. 421.85 crores and by tomorrow, this major feat would have been accomplished as well. That while be huge as well since the Yash starrer was an out and out actioner and Stree 2 would then be the first non-action film to join the big boys club. Post that it would be challenging Baahubali: The Conclusion (Hindi) lifetime of Rs. 511 crores and once that total is also surpassed, the film would be amongst Top-5 Hindi grossers of all time.

Shraddha Kapoor, who plays the lead role in Stree 3, has given the biggest hit of her career and it gives a big boost to her popularity. At present, she is the fifth most powerful heroine after Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Alia Bhatt. With Stree 2, the cumulative lifetime collections of her films have crossed that of Priyanka which is Rs. 1603.87 crores.

Shraddha Kapoor’s success also has a unique USP – she has managed to bring numbers without pairing opposite the three Khans. None of the actresses at the top can boast of this feat.

Trade veteran Taran Adarsh marvelled at her track record, “I always felt that she has not got the due. Now is the time for the media to realize her successful track record. After all, aisi success life mein bahut kam aati hai. It should be known to all, including those in the industry, that Shraddha has delivered those numbers.”

He further stated, “She’s very, very popular and her popularity has contributed (to hype around Stree 2). She is also very non-controversial. I have not heard a single controversy about her or that she was in the news for the wrong reasons. She has a spotless image. Otherwise, when you carry the baggage of ill-reputation, it might also impact (your track record).”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan noted, “If a film is hot, you surely benefit. Since Shraddha plays the title role, she would surely have the benefit.”

Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal, however, was not sure if she would become the next big thing, “She will of course benefit since Stree 2 is such a huge blockbuster. But aisa nahin ki bahut zyada kamaal ho jaayega(for her).”

Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, however, said, “Shraddha Kapoor is a huge star. She has managed to create a specific standing in the industry as she strives to do something different, that too in a commercial cinema setup. She played great characters in Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar etc. She has a huge draw and is definitely in the top 5. The industry is aware of it. It is often said that if you cast her and a popular young actor, you can easily pass the Friday test, that is, fetch a decent opening.”

He observed, “She is hand-picking her films very smartly. Also, she is not seen in a lot of events. Hence, she is a mix of Ranbir Kapoor and Aamir Khan. Even Ranbir is not seen all the time and selects his films wisely.”

When asked about some viewers complaining that she had a lesser screen time, he replied, “It depends on the script. Screen time se koi fark nahin padta hai. It depends on what you bring to the table and whether you fulfil the expectations of the audience. And nobody is saying that it is not a Shraddha Kapoor film. She’s being talked about and that proves (that her performance has worked).”

Further explaining that screen time doesn’t matter, Girish Johar said, “Bobby Deol walked away with all the glory in Animal despite limited screen time. There can’t be a bigger example than that.”

All Time Top 6 Bollywood Actresses by box office (as of 24 Aug 2024) Deepika Padukone - 3,195.40 cr. Katrina Kaif - 3,130.66 cr. Kareena Kapoor Khan - 2,429.30 cr. Alia Bhatt - 1,800.03 cr. Shraddha Kapoor - 1,638.77 cr. Priyanka Chopra Jonas - 1,603.87 cr.

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Stree, Stree 2, has taken the box office by storm, grossing an impressive ₹500 crores worldwide. This marks a significant milestone for the film, making it the only movie of 2024 to achieve this feat. The success of Stree 2 not only solidifies the horror-comedy genre's appeal but also highlights the star power of its leading actors and the vision of its director.

Stree 2 sees the return of the beloved cast, with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor reprising their roles as Vicky and Stree, respectively. The film also features Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee, who bring their unique charm and humor to the story. Directed by Amar Kaushik, who also helmed the original Stree, the sequel continues the legacy of blending horror with comedy in a way that resonates with audiences across the globe.

Stree 2 has achieved phenomenal success at the box office, with its collections breaking records left and right India (NETT): ₹360.90 crores India (Gross): ₹426.09 crores Overseas (Gross): ₹78.9 crores Global Collections: ₹504.99 crores

The film's domestic performance has been exceptional, contributing significantly to its worldwide gross. It has become a cultural phenomenon, with fans flocking to theaters to witness the continuation of the intriguing and humorous tale.

The ₹500 crore milestone is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time that Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor have starred in a film that has crossed this prestigious threshold. Both actors have previously been praised for their versatility and dedication to their craft, and Stree 2 further cements their status as bankable stars in the industry.

Currently, Stree 2 ranks 14th in the list of Bollywood's top grossers worldwide. However, industry experts predict that the film will break into the top 7 by the end of its theatrical run. This is a testament to the film's strong word-of-mouth promotion, engaging storyline, and the loyal fanbase it has cultivated since the first installment.

In what is being hailed as a historic moment for Bollywood, Stree 2 has officially become the first blockbuster of 2024. The horror-comedy sequel, which has been garnering immense praise since its release, shattered records on its second Saturday at the box office, achieving a milestone that places it among the greatest successes in Indian cinema history.

On its second Saturday, Stree 2 raked in an impressive Rs. 33.80 crores, a figure that not only solidifies its blockbuster status but also places it ahead of some of the biggest hits in recent years. To put this achievement into perspective, Stree 2 has surpassed the second Saturday collections of major blockbusters such as Gadar 2 (Rs. 31.07 crores), Jawan (Rs. 30.10 crores), Baahubali 2 (Hindi) (Rs. 26.50 crores), The Kashmir Files (Rs. 24.80 crores), Pathaan (Rs. 22.50 crores), and KGF 2 (Hindi) (Rs. 18.25 crores).

These numbers not only demonstrate the film's widespread appeal but also reflect the extraordinary support from audiences across India. The film’s unique blend of horror, comedy, and social commentary, coupled with stellar performances and engaging storytelling, has resonated with viewers, driving them to theaters in droves.

With its second Saturday earnings, Stree 2 has brought its total domestic box office collection to Rs. 360.90 crores. The film is now poised to cross the Rs. 400 crore mark, a milestone expected to be reached by the end of its second Sunday or Monday. This achievement will further cement Stree 2’s place in the annals of Indian cinema as one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

What’s even more remarkable is that Stree 2 is on track to enter the exclusive Rs. 500 crore club, a feat achieved by only a handful of films in the history of Indian cinema. Given the film’s current momentum and the enthusiastic response from audiences, its entry into this prestigious club seems all but guaranteed.

This box office performance is particularly noteworthy because it comes at a time when the industry is still recovering from the impacts of the pandemic, with many films struggling to draw audiences back to theaters. Stree 2 has not only defied these odds but has set new benchmarks, proving that content-driven cinema can thrive and even dominate in today’s landscape.

To break down the numbers, Stree 2 kicked off its second weekend with a solid Rs. 19.30 crores on Friday, followed by the historic Rs. 33.80 crores on Saturday. This brings the film’s total earnings to Rs. 360.90 crores as of the end of Saturday. With Sunday still to come, the film is expected to add significantly to this total, making its performance all the more remarkable.

Stree 2 is an all-time blockbuster and is now literally playing for the big boys. Last year, it was Pathaan, Gadar 2, Jawan and Animal - all testosterone driven films that created mayhem at the box office. This year, there is an altogether different genre - a horror comedy - which is making waves and is setting benchmarks for more such films. If the extended first week of the film had gone past the Rs. 300 crores mark, what has happened on the second Friday is surely going to set the film for even bigger milestones in days to come.

Picture this, the film came close to Rs. 20 crores mark all over again on its second Friday, what with Rs. 19.30 crores coming in. In fact, the collections are marginally more than Thursday which saw Rs. 18.20 crores being collected at the box office, and that pretty much shows how big it can now turn out to be today and tomorrow. This is another extended weekend for the film as Monday sees the partial holiday of Janmashtami, which means there is going to be another huge haul for Stree 2 in the coming three days. The film will be in Rs. 90-100 crores range all over again by the time Monday comes to a close which means celebrations for Rs. 400 Crores Club entry are round the corner.

So far, the film has already netted Rs. 327.10 crores and now the journey towards Rs. 500 Crores Club has begun fairly and squarely. This one is a maha blockbuster of the biggest standards and from the ROI perspective, it’s already the biggest of them all. Hopefully, there would be more of these in months to come and Bollywood will rise and shine the way it was always meant to.

Filmmaker Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 was predicted to open well at the box office by the trade experts before the release. But what this Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer has done is quite unthinkable. The horror-comedy proved all calculations wrong by earning almost Rs. 290 crores net in India before the end of its extended first week. The film is now all set to enter the Rs. 300 crores club in the country.

But before that happens, Stree 2 has already amassed Rs. 400 crores gross worldwide. The film achieved the milestone yesterday. The India gross number of the movie currently stands at Rs. 341.91 crores and the overseas gross at Rs. 58.93 crores. The grand total comes down to Rs. 400.84 crores.

Stree 2 is expected to keep its momentum high not only in the coming weekend but also the weekdays. Hence, it shouldn’t be a surprise if the movie reaches the Rs. 500 crores gross mark worldwide in the near future. Apart from the rage the film has generated, this is also possible because it has a free run before Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency releases on September 6.

Also starring Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, Stree 2 is produced under the banners of Maddock Films and Jio Studios.

Post that it managed a couple of half century days when Rs. 55.40 crores came on Independence Day holiday and then Rs. 58.20 crores were collected on Sunday. There has been one 40+ day and then a couple of 30s as well which the film has scored in its run and now with the last two days being in the 20s, it has been game, set, match.

Today, for the first time the film will get below Rs. 20 crores and that may well be the case tomorrow as well. However, Saturday and Sunday would be back in the 30s and that means a huge second week is awaiting the film, something that will take the film past Rs. 400 crores mark in really quick time.

All time blockbuster.

Stree 2 is all set to enter Rs 300 Crores Club in real quick time and it could well happen this week itself if the trending continuing to be as fantastic as it has been so far ever since it was screened for paid preview shows on late Wednesday night. The film has already netted Rs. 242.40 crores and there are three more days remaining in the extended first week. Though it won’t cross Rs. 300 crores in the first seven days (i.e. by Wednesday), there is an outside chance of the feat being accomplished by close of Thursday.

This could well happen if the trending remains fantastic from today till Thursday if an average of Rs. 20 crores comes on a daily basis. The key would be today to drop by not more than 30% when compared to yesterday when Rs. 38.40 crores had come in. It was a partial holiday of Rakshabandhan, which had resulted in such stupendous numbers and while a drop today is inevitable due to the film already registering such huge collections and an extended weekend coming to a close. Anything around Rs. 28-30 crores would be tough to get but would be fantastic while something around Rs. 25 crores would be a par score and keep the film in hunt for that Rs. 300 crores mark being reached before the second weekend kick starts.

The film is working without any sort of competition and with next few weeks being wide open, it can go just about anywhere. In fact, Rs. 450 crores will also be reached in quick time, and it would be close of second weekend, which will decide if Rs. 500 crores is a possibility as well.

In just 4 days, the Rajkummar Rao – Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 3 has now entered the Rs. 200 Crore Club. Released on Wednesday evening for paid preview shows, the film has been having a remarkable run from Thursday onwards and on Sunday it hit a crescendo as it ended up collecting Rs. 58.20 crores. That’s the second time in in its run that it has hit a half century on a single day. It first did that on Thursday and while it has gone it again on Sunday, indications are that it will enjoy a hattrick of Rs. 50 crores+ days on Monday as well due to Rakshabandhan holiday.

The film has been doing excellent business across the board and is the favourite of the crowds at the mass as well as class centres. When a film finds appreciation in A, B as well as C centres at multiplexes as well as single screens then you know that it’s game on. Of course, it’s all easier said and done since such factors need to be taken care of at the very inception and aren’t just left to luck so that it can play its part. However, the fact also remains that Stree 2 has emerged as the quickest blockbuster in a matter of just four days.

Currently standing at Rs. 204 crores, the film should now cross Rs. 250 crores today and then would be entering the Rs. 300 Crore Club by the close first week. In no time the film will also reach Rs. 400 crores and while Rs. 450 crores lifetime is a given for the film, it has to be seen whether it makes a dash towards the Rs. 500 Crore Club as well.
