In what is being hailed as a historic moment for Bollywood, Stree 2 has officially become the first blockbuster of 2024. The horror-comedy sequel, which has been garnering immense praise since its release, shattered records on its second Saturday at the box office, achieving a milestone that places it among the greatest successes in Indian cinema history.

On its second Saturday, Stree 2 raked in an impressive Rs. 33.80 crores, a figure that not only solidifies its blockbuster status but also places it ahead of some of the biggest hits in recent years. To put this achievement into perspective, Stree 2 has surpassed the second Saturday collections of major blockbusters such as Gadar 2 (Rs. 31.07 crores), Jawan (Rs. 30.10 crores), Baahubali 2 (Hindi) (Rs. 26.50 crores), The Kashmir Files (Rs. 24.80 crores), Pathaan (Rs. 22.50 crores), and KGF 2 (Hindi) (Rs. 18.25 crores).

These numbers not only demonstrate the film's widespread appeal but also reflect the extraordinary support from audiences across India. The film’s unique blend of horror, comedy, and social commentary, coupled with stellar performances and engaging storytelling, has resonated with viewers, driving them to theaters in droves.

With its second Saturday earnings, Stree 2 has brought its total domestic box office collection to Rs. 360.90 crores. The film is now poised to cross the Rs. 400 crore mark, a milestone expected to be reached by the end of its second Sunday or Monday. This achievement will further cement Stree 2’s place in the annals of Indian cinema as one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

What’s even more remarkable is that Stree 2 is on track to enter the exclusive Rs. 500 crore club, a feat achieved by only a handful of films in the history of Indian cinema. Given the film’s current momentum and the enthusiastic response from audiences, its entry into this prestigious club seems all but guaranteed.

This box office performance is particularly noteworthy because it comes at a time when the industry is still recovering from the impacts of the pandemic, with many films struggling to draw audiences back to theaters. Stree 2 has not only defied these odds but has set new benchmarks, proving that content-driven cinema can thrive and even dominate in today’s landscape.

To break down the numbers, Stree 2 kicked off its second weekend with a solid Rs. 19.30 crores on Friday, followed by the historic Rs. 33.80 crores on Saturday. This brings the film’s total earnings to Rs. 360.90 crores as of the end of Saturday. With Sunday still to come, the film is expected to add significantly to this total, making its performance all the more remarkable.

Stree 2 is an all-time blockbuster and is now literally playing for the big boys. Last year, it was Pathaan, Gadar 2, Jawan and Animal - all testosterone driven films that created mayhem at the box office. This year, there is an altogether different genre - a horror comedy - which is making waves and is setting benchmarks for more such films. If the extended first week of the film had gone past the Rs. 300 crores mark, what has happened on the second Friday is surely going to set the film for even bigger milestones in days to come.

Picture this, the film came close to Rs. 20 crores mark all over again on its second Friday, what with Rs. 19.30 crores coming in. In fact, the collections are marginally more than Thursday which saw Rs. 18.20 crores being collected at the box office, and that pretty much shows how big it can now turn out to be today and tomorrow. This is another extended weekend for the film as Monday sees the partial holiday of Janmashtami, which means there is going to be another huge haul for Stree 2 in the coming three days. The film will be in Rs. 90-100 crores range all over again by the time Monday comes to a close which means celebrations for Rs. 400 Crores Club entry are round the corner.

So far, the film has already netted Rs. 327.10 crores and now the journey towards Rs. 500 Crores Club has begun fairly and squarely. This one is a maha blockbuster of the biggest standards and from the ROI perspective, it’s already the biggest of them all. Hopefully, there would be more of these in months to come and Bollywood will rise and shine the way it was always meant to.

Filmmaker Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 was predicted to open well at the box office by the trade experts before the release. But what this Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer has done is quite unthinkable. The horror-comedy proved all calculations wrong by earning almost Rs. 290 crores net in India before the end of its extended first week. The film is now all set to enter the Rs. 300 crores club in the country.

But before that happens, Stree 2 has already amassed Rs. 400 crores gross worldwide. The film achieved the milestone yesterday. The India gross number of the movie currently stands at Rs. 341.91 crores and the overseas gross at Rs. 58.93 crores. The grand total comes down to Rs. 400.84 crores.

Stree 2 is expected to keep its momentum high not only in the coming weekend but also the weekdays. Hence, it shouldn’t be a surprise if the movie reaches the Rs. 500 crores gross mark worldwide in the near future. Apart from the rage the film has generated, this is also possible because it has a free run before Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency releases on September 6.

Also starring Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, Stree 2 is produced under the banners of Maddock Films and Jio Studios.

Released on Wednesday, Stree 2 has now completed its first week (first seven days) in theatres. It’s one of the record opening weeks for a film as a massive Rs. 289.60 crores have been collected at the box office. Very few films have managed to achieve this feat and Stree 2 has done that with complete ease, what with one more day still left in the extended first week.

That has been made possible by a head-start that it got on Wednesday evening itself when paid previews brought in Rs. 9.40 crores. Post that it managed a couple of half century days when Rs. 55.40 crores came on Independence Day holiday and then Rs. 58.20 crores were collected on Sunday. There has been one 40+ day and then a couple of 30s as well which the film has scored in its run and now with the last two days being in the 20s, it has been game, set, match.

Today, for the first time the film will get below Rs. 20 crores and that may well be the case tomorrow as well. However, Saturday and Sunday would be back in the 30s and that means a huge second week is awaiting the film, something that will take the film past Rs. 400 crores mark in really quick time.

All time blockbuster.

Stree 2 is all set to enter Rs 300 Crores Club in real quick time and it could well happen this week itself if the trending continuing to be as fantastic as it has been so far ever since it was screened for paid preview shows on late Wednesday night. The film has already netted Rs. 242.40 crores and there are three more days remaining in the extended first week. Though it won’t cross Rs. 300 crores in the first seven days (i.e. by Wednesday), there is an outside chance of the feat being accomplished by close of Thursday.

This could well happen if the trending remains fantastic from today till Thursday if an average of Rs. 20 crores comes on a daily basis. The key would be today to drop by not more than 30% when compared to yesterday when Rs. 38.40 crores had come in. It was a partial holiday of Rakshabandhan, which had resulted in such stupendous numbers and while a drop today is inevitable due to the film already registering such huge collections and an extended weekend coming to a close. Anything around Rs. 28-30 crores would be tough to get but would be fantastic while something around Rs. 25 crores would be a par score and keep the film in hunt for that Rs. 300 crores mark being reached before the second weekend kick starts.

The film is working without any sort of competition and with next few weeks being wide open, it can go just about anywhere. In fact, Rs. 450 crores will also be reached in quick time, and it would be close of second weekend, which will decide if Rs. 500 crores is a possibility as well.

In just 4 days, the Rajkummar Rao – Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 3 has now entered the Rs. 200 Crore Club. Released on Wednesday evening for paid preview shows, the film has been having a remarkable run from Thursday onwards and on Sunday it hit a crescendo as it ended up collecting Rs. 58.20 crores. That’s the second time in in its run that it has hit a half century on a single day. It first did that on Thursday and while it has gone it again on Sunday, indications are that it will enjoy a hattrick of Rs. 50 crores+ days on Monday as well due to Rakshabandhan holiday.

The film has been doing excellent business across the board and is the favourite of the crowds at the mass as well as class centres. When a film finds appreciation in A, B as well as C centres at multiplexes as well as single screens then you know that it’s game on. Of course, it’s all easier said and done since such factors need to be taken care of at the very inception and aren’t just left to luck so that it can play its part. However, the fact also remains that Stree 2 has emerged as the quickest blockbuster in a matter of just four days.

Currently standing at Rs. 204 crores, the film should now cross Rs. 250 crores today and then would be entering the Rs. 300 Crore Club by the close first week. In no time the film will also reach Rs. 400 crores and while Rs. 450 crores lifetime is a given for the film, it has to be seen whether it makes a dash towards the Rs. 500 Crore Club as well.

After a phenomenal opening day, which saw the film rake in Rs. 55.40 crore, Stree 2 continued its stellar run on Day 2, bringing in another Rs. 35.30 crore. This remarkable achievement has catapulted the film into the prestigious Rs. 100 crore club, solidifying its position as one of the fastest films to reach this milestone.

Breaking Records in Just Two Days

The early success of Stree 2 can be attributed to the immense buzz surrounding the film. Right from the outset, the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Stree was expected to perform well, but few anticipated the scale of its box office dominance. Despite stiff competition from other releases, Stree 2 has managed to hold its ground, proving its mettle with exceptional occupancy rates across multiplexes in key cities.

Single screens and non-national properties in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets have also reported exceptional footfalls, further boosting the film's overall business. The film's appeal across different demographics and regions highlights the broad fanbase that the Stree franchise has cultivated over the years.

Now with Stree 2 making it to the Rs. 100 crore club in just two days, the film has not only outpaced several high-profile releases but also reaffirmed Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's star power at the box office.

This impressive start not only cements the film’s status as a box office heavyweight but also places it among the top Independence Day releases in Bollywood history.

Box Office Performance:

With a collection of Rs. 55.40 crore on its opening day, Stree 2 has outperformed several major releases from previous years, securing its position as the highest Independence Day opener of all time. Sharing the spot with the Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2, that also had an extraordinary collection of Rs. 55.40 crore. When compared to other notable Independence Day releases, Stree 2 leaves a significant mark not only surpassing Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger and Ajay Devgn's Singham Returns, both of which were highly successful Independence Day releases, but it also outshines Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal and Gold, further solidifying its success.

The Success of Stree 2:

The film’s strong opening is attributed to several factors. Firstly, the massive success of the original Stree created high expectations for the sequel. Additionally, the film has garnered positive reviews for its unique blend of horror and comedy, along with stellar performances by Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. The chemistry between the lead actors, combined with the film's engaging narrative, has resonated well with both critics and audiences.

The Independence Day holiday also played a crucial role in boosting the film’s collections. The extended weekend provided an ideal opportunity for moviegoers to flock to theaters, further driving up the numbers.

Looking Ahead:

With such a strong opening, Stree 2 is well-positioned for a successful run at the box office. If the film maintains its momentum, it could potentially surpass the lifetime collections of several other Independence Day blockbusters. Given the early reviews and the audience's positive response, Stree 2 could become one of the highest-grossing films of the year, setting a new benchmark for horror-comedy in Bollywood.

As Stree 2 continues to dominate the box office, it’s clear that the film has not only met but exceeded expectations, making it a significant milestone in the careers of both Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor.

Stree 2, the highly anticipated sequel starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, released on August 15, and its box office performance has stunned both the industry and audiences alike. Initially expected to open in the range of Rs. 30-35 crore, the film far exceeded expectations by raking in a staggering Rs. 55.40 crore on its opening day. This phenomenal performance has not only cemented the Stree franchise's status as a box office juggernaut but has also placed Stree 2 among the highest opening day grossers in Bollywood history.

All-Time Highest Opening Day Grossers:

With its Rs. 55.40 crore opening, Stree 2 has firmly positioned itself among the top opening day grossers in Bollywood. Here’s how it compares to other all-time highest opening day collections. In fact, the film has surpassed major blockbusters like KGF - Chapter 2 and War, and has edged past Thugs Of Hindostan to secure the fourth spot on the list of all-time highest opening day grossers. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the stiff competition from big-budget action films and star-studded releases.

Box Office Triumph:

The success of Stree 2 can be attributed to its broad appeal, which resonates with both urban audiences in metro cities and moviegoers in mass-dominated sectors. The Stree franchise has managed to carve out a niche by blending horror and comedy in a way that appeals to a wide demographic. This, coupled with the strong performances of the lead actors and a well-crafted narrative, has propelled the film’s business beyond initial expectations.

According to industry insiders, the film's business saw significant growth over the evening and night shows on its opening day. The positive reviews and enthusiastic word-of-mouth drove more audiences to theaters, leading to increased demand. In some locations, theaters even added extra shows to accommodate the overwhelming crowd, further boosting the film's collections.

Road Ahead:

With such a strong start, Stree 2 is poised for a successful run at the box office. The positive audience feedback and strong word-of-mouth suggest that the film will continue to draw in crowds in the coming days, potentially setting new benchmarks for the horror-comedy genre in Bollywood.

The film's ability to connect with a diverse audience base, combined with its entertaining storyline and engaging performances, has ensured its place as one of the biggest hits of the year. As Stree 2 continues to dominate the box office, it is clear that the film has not only met but exceeded expectations, reaffirming the Stree franchise's popularity and setting a high bar for future releases.

The John Abraham and Sharvari led Vedaa has seen low results at the box office on Independence Day. According to early estimates, the Nikkhil Advani directed film has collected around Rs. 6 to 7 crores on its opening day. The film has done better numbers than what the advance bookings suggested and thats primarily due to walk in audience on Independence Day Holiday.

The film has done better in mass belts than the urban centres and that is due to the action genre. A win of sorts for Vedaa is in fact that it has managed to score a bigger day one than the Akshay Kumar led Khel Khel Mein.

Talking of Khel Khel Mein, the Akshay Kumar comedy has collected around Rs. 5.25 to 5.75 crores on the opening day, making it one of the lowest Independence Day openers for Akshay Kumar.

The film has done better in urban markets than the mass belts but the result is not upto the mark. It has opened lower than Vedaa, which is a shocker for the fraternity as nobody expected John Abraham to score a lead over Akshay Kumar.

The Dinesh Vijan produced horror comedy, Stree 2, has set the box office on fire on Independence Day. According to early estimates, the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao led film has collected in the range of Rs. 42 to 44 crores on the opening day. When we take into account the paid previews of Rs. 8.50 crore, the opening day of Stree 2 stands at an earth-shattering number of Rs. 52.50 crores.

The film has done well all across the board - be it the multiplexes or the single screens - and is headed to emerge as one of the biggest blockbusters of Hindi Cinema. It's not an expensive film, which means an unheard-of return on investment for Dinesh Vijan and Jio Studios.

The national chains have collected around Rs. 21.50 crores on the first day, with a ratio of 55%. Stree 2 has shocked the industry with its performance on the opening day as the film has surpassed all expectations to script history at the box office.

All eyes are on the trends over the weekend as the early reports are very positive.

Back in 2013 when Chennai Express had arrived a night before for paid preview shows, it had set the record for the highest collections ever before the conventional release happened in theatres. The Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer directed by Rohit Shetty had collected Rs. 6.75 crores at just a few shows where the film was playing and for 11 long years, the record was unbeaten.

Well, who would have thought that one Wednesday night Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor would arrive with Amar Kaushik directed Stree 2 and they would end up setting a new record for the paid previews shows, and that too by a distance. As has been the case, the film has collected an astonishing Rs. 8 crores in just those 2–3-night shows at select theatres due to majority of them running at film capacity. This also further goes on to show that when audiences make up their mind to watch a film then they arrive in hordes even during a dull season.

That said, it won’t be dull now for many more weeks to come since the reports for the film are excellent as well, which means at the very least its extended weekend is sorted. For starters, the film will break all frontiers today due to National Holiday as well and honestly speaking, if not for the three-way clash with Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa then it would have pretty much aimed for even a 50 crores single day. While Rs. 40 crores should be crossed today, it could well have this milestone accomplished all over again on Sunday as well.

In a remarkable feat, the Rajkummar Rao - Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 has secured the 7th position in the all-time top 10 advance bookings for Day 1 at national multiplex chains, with a staggering 3.65 lakh tickets sold. This impressive milestone is a testament to the film's immense popularity and the audience's eagerness to witness the horror-comedy unfold on the big screen.

The top 10 list is dominated by blockbuster films like Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion, Jawan, Pathaan, and K.G.F - Chapter 2, which have set high benchmarks for advance bookings. However, Stree 2's entry into this elite group is a significant achievement, considering the film's genre and competition. The horror-comedy genre has gained immense popularity in recent years, and Stree 2's success reflects this trend.

As the advance booking trend continues, Stree 2 is likely to break into the top 5, potentially surpassing War and Thugs Of Hindostan. This would be a remarkable feat, solidifying the film's position as one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The film's success can be attributed to its engaging trailer, catchy music, and the popularity of its lead actors.

The top 10 list stands as follows: Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion - 6.5 lakh Jawan - 5.57 lakh Pathaan - 5.56 lakh K.G.F - Chapter 2 - 5.15 lakh Animal - 4.56 lakh War - 4.1 lakh Stree 2 - 3.65 lakh Thugs Of Hindostan - 3.46 lakh Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - 3.4 lakh Bharat - 3.16 lakh

The film's success is not limited to advance bookings alone. Stree 2 has also generated significant buzz on social media, with fans eagerly sharing their excitement and anticipation for the film's release. As the film's release date approaches, the excitement is palpable. Will Stree 2 continue to shatter records and make its way to the top 5? Only time will tell.

In fact, with the Independence Day holiday across the nation, the bookings of the film are expected to see a sharp increase. Basis the current scenario Stree 2 looks poised to become one of the top 5 films with the biggest advance bookings. Currently, one thing is certain,  Stree 2 is poised to be one of the biggest hits of the year.

The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-led Stree 2 is on an overdrive at the box office with tickets selling like hot cupcakes in the advance bookings. As of Wednesday at 2 PM, Stree 2 has sold approx. 3.65 Lakh tickets across the Top 3 national chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis - for the opening day including paid previews. The Dinesh Vijan production is targeting a final advance booking in the vicinity of 5 lakh, which is unheard of and unprecedented, to say the least.

There is a phenomenal demand for the film amongst the youth and family audience and the same is visible in the advance booking. Stree 2 is looking to collect in the range of Rs. 7 to 8 crores in the paid previews with another Rs. 40 crores on Independence Day, which means an All India Day One in the range of Rs. 50 crores.

The film is unaffected by the 3-way clash and is a one-horse race at the box office as Stree 2 will end up earning 5 times more than the combined total of Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. The inside reports from the early screenings are on the positive side and if the audience response is the same, the sky is the limit as far as lifetime business is concerned.

Meanwhile, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa continue to struggle at the advance bookings.

The Akshay Kumar-led Khel Khel Mein is struggling at the box office with negligible ticket sales, which is also aided by other factors too. According to the latest set of data we received, Khel Khel Mein has sold 11,500 tickets across the Top 3 national chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis - for August 15 and is looking at a final total of 30,000 tickets by Wednesday night.

The movement for Khel Khel Mein is slow and with restrained showcasing in the mass belts, the film will heavily depend on the business it does in the national chains. Being a national holiday, the film could get a better-than-usual walk-in audience, pushing it to open better than the last few Akshay Kumar films.

The third release of the week, Vedaa, is also struggling at the ticket windows, as the Top 3 national chains have sold approximately 9,500 tickets for the Independence Day. Being action-heavy, the film will have footfalls in the single screens, and could definitely reduce the gap with Khel Khel Mein through the movement on the day.

Both the releases are impacted by a juggernaut called Stree 2, and it's going to be a one-horse race at the box office for the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao film.

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy hit, Stree, has taken a massive lead at MovieMax chain of cinemas. As of Wednesday, at 10 AM, advance booking numbers reveal that the Rajukmmar Rao – Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 has sold an impressive 10,400 tickets for Day 1, leaving its competitors far behind.

In comparison, the John Abraham – Sharvari Wagh starrer Vedaa and the Akshay Kumar – Vaani Kapoor multistarrer Khel Khel Main have sold a mere 280 and 255 tickets, respectively. But that's not all - Stree 2 has also sold an additional 2,900 tickets for paid preview, further solidifying its position as the most awaited film of the season.

The massive lead taken by Stree 2 can be attributed to the immense success of its predecessor, which became a cult classic among horror-comedy fans. The sequel promises to bring back the same blend of spine-tingling horror and rib-tickling comedy, with the addition of new characters and plot twists.

The impressive advance booking numbers are a testament to the film's hype and the audience's eagerness to witness the next chapter in the Stree saga. With its unique blend of horror and comedy, Stree 2 is poised to cast a spell on audiences and dominate the box office.

Filmmaker Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 is turning out to be one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year going by its advance booking numbers. So much so that despite the film clashing with not one but two biggies – John Abraham and Sharvari starrer Vedaa and Akshay Kumar starrer Khel Khel Mein – its advance booking is miles ahead of the other two films. Hence, it looks like Stree 2 will easily surpass the lifetime number of its prequel Stree (2018), which had earned an impressive Rs. 129.90 crores.

Not just that, the movie is also all set to become Shraddha Kapoor’s highest opening day grosser. Going by the buzz and advance booking sales, Stree 2 is all set to earn Rs. 30 crores or more on its opening day.

Right now, the actress’s highest opening day is the Hindi version of the Prabhas starrer Saaho, which had opened at Rs. 24.40 crores in 2019. But despite opening at an impressive number, the film could only manage Rs. 142.95 crores of lifetime business. It looks like if Stree gets even a decent word-of-mouth, it will easily surpass the score of Saaho and in all probability be Shraddha’s highest grossing film.

Currently, the actress’s second highest grosser currently is Baaghi 3, which opened at Rs. 17 crores, despite releasing when the COVID-19 pandemic was just setting in. The next few films in the list include Ek Villain (Rs.16.72 crores), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs. 15.73 crores) and ABCD – Any Body Can Dance 2 (Rs. 14.30 crores).

Not just that, Stree 2 is also all set to become Rajkummar Rao’s highest opening day grosser. Right now, the actor’s highest first day grosser is Mr & Mrs Mahi with Rs. 6.85 crores. Stree 2 will go past that number by leaps and bounds as it’s all set to open at Rs. 30 crores or more.

Interestingly, the second film in the list of Rajkummar’s highest grossers is Stree with Rs. 6.82 crores. Despite opening at that number, the movie went onto earn a lifetime of Rs. 129.90 crores at the ticket window. Hence one can just imagine how far can Stree 2 go with its opening of over Rs. 30 crores if the content is appreciated.

Except Mr & Mrs Mahi and Stree, there is nothing much to pick from Rajkummar’s highest first day grossers. But with Stree 2, he would finally enter the two-figure mark in a grand way.

Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, Stree 2 will be releasing on August 15 with paid previews on August 14.

The Dinesh Vijan produced Stree 2 is on an overdrive at the box office as its advance booking has resulted in tickets selling like hot cupcakes. According to data received on Tuesday at 10 AM, Stree 2 has sold approximately 1.40 Lakh tickets across the Top 3 national chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis - for Independence Day.

The film is running in a league of its own despite a 3-way clash with Vedaa & Khel Khel Mein. Infact, to call this scenario a clash would be an insult to the domination of Stree 2, as it’s a one horse race, with the remaining 2 films failing to sell even 10,000 tickets.

Stree 2 is headed to take a Rs. 40 crore start at the box office now and this is an unprecedented thing, as it's a number none anticipated a week back. The film is already a HIT film based on advance booking, and we need to see how big a hit it becomes going forward.

The film is confirmed to take the biggest opening of 2024, by surpassing the previous record holder, Fighter.

While the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao film, Stree 2, is running riot across the ticket counters regarding advance booking, it's a dull show for the other two Independence Day releases, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. As on Monday at 8 PM, Khel Khel Mein has sold approximately 3,000 tickets for the opening day in the national multiplex chains.

Vedaa on the other hand has sold 3,700 tickets in the National Multiplex Chains for Independence Day. The combined sales of Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa are 6,700 tickets for Independence Day, as compared to 1,30,000 tickets sold by Shraddha Kapoor starrer for the same day.

The combined ticket sales of Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa is around 5% percent of the total tickets sold by Stree 2 for the opening day and this spells a warning signal for both films. The festivals are meant for event theatrical films, and the outcome of Stree 2 as compared to Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein validates the birth of a successful franchise. All eyes on the movement for the two films on Tuesday and Wednesday now.

The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao film, Stree 2, is breaking all records in its advance booking as the film has sold 1 lakh tickets for the opening day alone within 48 hours of tickets going up for sale. The Amar Kaushik directorial has surpassed all expectations, as the results are historic to say the least and that too in a 3 way box office clash.

The advance booking alone has already announced the Independence Day winner, as Stree 2 is headed to do unimaginable numbers in its opening weekend at the box office. Stree 2 will surpass the overall advance booking of Fighter by Monday Night, whereas the numbers of Dunki will be surpassed by Tuesday Night. On the final day of Advance i.e. on Wednesday, Stree 2 will surpass the advance booking of films like Brahmastra and Tiger 3, which sold over 3 lakh tickets.

The results are historic, more so for mid budget film with neither of the 3 Khan's or Ranbir Kapoor, as this is the power of Stree franchise aided by immense youth following of Shraddha Kapoor. The first day business of Stree 2 will shock many from the industry in a good way, but the two competitors - Vedaa & Khel Khel Mein - might not be happy seeing this trend for Stree 2 at box office

The advance booking of Stree 2 has taken a bumper response as the film has sold over 40,000 tickets in less than 24 hours of tickets going for sale. The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao film is expected to take a solid start at the cinema halls on Independence Day, and the same has resulted in its domination in screen count too.

A trade source shares, "Stree 2 will lead the Independence Day battle with 50% share in showcasing at multiplexes. Its deserving for this horror comedy to dominate over Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa due to tremendous demand among the cinema going audience. The shows have started to get full and Stree 2 will be the first choice for exhibitors and audience alike."

The trade source further added that it is going to be a fight to the finish between Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa for showcasing in remaining screens. "But, by the end of Wednesday, Khel Khel Mein will take the lead over Vedaa in screen count, as end of the day, it’s an Akshay Kumar film. The shows between Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa will be divided in the ratio of 60:40," the trade source shared.

The fight for shows is on, but at the moment, Stree 2 is leading by a margin thanks to the hype created by franchise value. It's time to grab some popcorn as the fight between Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa is expected to be intense.

The advance booking of Amar Kaushik's Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao is off to a flyer as the film is headed to sell over 50,000 tickets in no time. As of Sunday at 8.30 AM, Stree 2 has sold approx. 40,000 tickets across the top 3 national chains – PVR, Inox & Cinepolis.

The horrror comedy is among the biggest feature films of 2024 and the advance booking is indicating a bumper start of Rs. 30 crores for the film on August 15. There is ample hype for Stree 2 among the cinema-going audiences as the film is set to emerge as the #1 pick topping Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein on Independence Day.

The advance booking movement for Stree 2 is the best for 2024, higher than the big-budget actioner, Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, which speaks volumes about the kind of buzz it is carrying in the cine-goers.

Stree 2 is poised to take the biggest start of 2024 despite a 3-way clash and all eyes are now on the entertainment value of the film upon its arrival.

The exhibition sector wasn’t expecting house-full crowds this weekend and braced for a dry period. However, they are in for a pleasant surprise as the Hollywood film It Ends With Us is drawing audiences in hordes. Usually, such English love stories get a limited audience and hence, are only released in the English version in limited screens. But the demand for It Ends With Us is such that the cinema halls have started increasing shows today, August 10.

It Ends With Us was released on August 9 and had paid previews on August 8. The audience was aware that the ticket would be sold for Rs. 99 on August 9 and for Rs. 199 on August 10 and 11 as part of Cinema Lovers Day celebrations. Yet, the urgency was such that the paid previews, with normal ticket prices, were sold out in many theatres. Yesterday, It Ends With Us was one of the best-performing films in the country. It collected approx. Rs. 1.25 crores. To put things into perspective, this is more than what Janhvi Kapoor’s last week release Ulajh collected on its first day (Rs. 1 crore) though it had a higher screen count.

Looking at the demand, the theatres immediately increased the showcasing. The makers had originally planned to screen it in 150 screens but looking at the demand, the screen count increased to 258.

Such Hollywood films usually have a couple of shows in a day. But PVR Juhu, Mumbai is playing 6 shows of It Ends With Us today and tomorrow it will have as many as 8 shows. PVR Nexus, Koramangala, Bengaluru, will have 11 shows starting tomorrow, with the first show starting at 8:15 pm. E-Square Elite, Pune, meanwhile will have 9 shows on Sunday.

But what has really been a surprise is that Mumbai’s G7 multiplex, also called Gaiety-Galaxy, will play one show day of It Ends With Us in the 238-seater Gemini. A trade source said, “Gaiety-Galaxy used to play English films in the original version at one point in Gem and Glamour, which have around 47 seats. Since 11-12 years, they discontinued the practice and now only show select big Hollywood films, that too in the Hindi version. It Ends With Us is the first English film in many years to be screened in G7 in the original English version.”

A multiplex official said, “When it comes to Hollywood, only big-screen, franchise films perform in such a manner. The small and mid-sized films love stories do get audiences but in select theatres. It Ends With Us, however, proved to be an exception. The word of mouth is tremendous and it’ll now also get showcasing after the Independence Day releases arrive on August 15.”

It Ends With Us stars Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar and is based on the bestselling novel of the same name. It is the story of a woman who falls in love with a charming man but soon, things take a turn for the worse.

The Neeraj Pandey directed Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is an absolute theatrical disaster and is headed for a single digit finish at the box office in India. According to estimates, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha has collected in the range of Rs 70 to 80 Lakhs on Monday, taking total collections to Rs. 6.30 crores.

The film is one of the biggest disasters in the history of Indian Cinema, joining the recent failures like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Maidaan, and Sarfira among others and is looking to score the lowest ever total for an A List actor in the last 20 years. Almost 70% of shows of Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha were cancelled on Monday due to no audience and the film scored a horrendous occupancy of 4% through the day.

The film will fold under Rs. 10 crores in India and will be out of cinema halls by the end of week one. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is a big black spot in the filmography of Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Pandey and we hope the duo doesn't repeat the mistake again in the time to come!

It was yet another dull day for Bollywood as even combined collections of two new releases Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Ulajh couldn’t cross Rs. 5 crores mark. It’s understandable (though not entirely) when films don’t open on Friday but then when growth doesn’t come on Saturday either then you know where they are headed for. It’s so disheartening to see empty houses for Bollywood films week after week and though there is some sort of intermittent relief that comes when something like Bad Newz collects well at least over the opening weekend, it all has come back to square one just a couple of weeks down the line.

This can well be seen from the fact that despite Ajay Devgn and Tabu being in lead, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha has turned out to be an absolute non-starter with first the opening day bringing in mere Rs. 1.70 crores and then Saturday too being largely flat at mere Rs. 1.90 crores. Both in terms of percentage growth as well as absolute numbers, this is so low here. In case of Ulajh it’s a little better though again, this too is strictly relatively speaking. The film had opened at Rs. 1 crore and while Saturday has moved ahead to Rs. 1.70 crores, hence reflecting a growth of over 60%, that too is simply not enough. Ideally, the collections should have doubled up and now the onus is on Sunday to see any sort of turnaround so that the Janhvi Kapoor starrer can hope for weekdays to help its cause.

All in all, while Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha currently stands at Rs. 3.60 crores, Ulajh has managed to bring in Rs. 2.70 crores. Even the combined collections of the two films after being in theatres for two days haven’t reached Rs. 10 crores which pretty much tells the tale.

A sad scenario indeed.

As expected, both Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Ulajh saw very low opening at the box office. It isn’t surprising at all since the signs were pretty much there at the advance booking stage itself. For Ulajh, it was anyways going to be spot booking since the film was primarily a word-of-mouth affair. However, with Ajay Devgn and Tabu in lead roles, one expected at least Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha to register some sort of pure-release sales. However, that didn’t turn out to be the case, as a result of which the first day numbers have turned out to be pretty low. The combined collections of both the films is less than Rs. 5 crores which pretty much tells the tale.

While Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha has taken a start of Rs. 1.70 crores, Ulajh has opened at Rs. 1 crore. This is all on expected lines since former was slated to open in Rs. 2-3 crores range whereas latter was expected to just about edge out Rs. 1 crore mark. There was no competition either for the two films since Deadpool & Wolverine had as it is slowed down during the weekdays itself and there is no other Hindi film in the running for competition with Bad Newz too exhausting its major share of audiences by the close of second week. However, audiences came to theatres primarily in the evening and night shows as a result of which one sort of numbers at least came in. Otherwise, the morning and afternoon scenario was rather bleak.

Neither of the two films has seen any rave reviews coming their way and while the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer will primarily be catering to mature audiences who are fine with some old school romance, Janhvi Kapoor’s espionage thriller drama would appeal to select intelligentsia at the urban centres. Today would be key for both the films and for them to have some sort of run till the Independence Day weekend, they would need to at least double up today.

The Ajay Devgn led romantic thriller, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, directed by Neeraj Pandey, has taken a disastrous start at the box office in India. According to early estimates, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, has collected in the range of Rs. 1.30 to 1.50 crores on the first day, making it one of the lowest openers of all times for a major film star. The opening day is lowest ever for Ajay Devgn in the last 19 years

Starring Ajay Devgn, and Tabu in lead, the film has opened even lower than Akshay Kumar disasters like Sarfira, Mission Raniganj, and Selfiee. The start is even below the conservative expectations that the trade had from this romantic film.

The film had poor reviews and will end up being a big disaster for Hindi Cinema.

This weekend sees the release of Ajay Devgn and Tabu starter Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Janhvi Kapoor led Ulajh. While the former is a dramatic love story with a suspense angle to it, the latter too has a suspense angle to it though it’s more of an espionage drama. While the former has been sporadically promoted with some subdued marketing effort, latter has seen some sort of a push, especially at major cities.

The advance booking of both the films is negligible though as ticket sales haven’t really taken off even though the plans did open a couple of days back. This means the onus is now on spot footfalls to help the collections to some extent. That said, the first day is set to be low and then the onus would be on Saturday and Sunday to bring in some momentum if the word of mouth spreads fast and in a positive direction.

Talking about the first-day collections, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is expected to open around Rs. 3 crore mark and that too if word of mouth starts spreading well by evening and night shows itself. As for Ulajh, it is likely to have an opening below Rs. 1 crore mark. All in all, the best-case scenario would be Rs. 5 crores between the two films on Friday.
