The Sabarmati Report fails to find takers on Day 1; opens at Rs. 1.15 crores with bleak prospects ahead
The Vikrant Massey led The Sabarmati Report has taken a dull start at the box office in India. According to early estimates, the socio-political drama based on a true event has collected approx. Rs 1 crore to Rs. 1.30 crores on the first day.
The film has opened below average, but this opening day is not good enough for the feature film as the costs are high due to reshoots. The Ekta Kapoor production needs to show a miracle over the weekend to sail through and reach a respectable number.
The Sabarmati Report will be looking at the opening weekend of Rs. 4.25 crores, and then it will boil down to the crucial Monday test. After 12th Fail, more was expected from Vikrant Massey, but it seems the audience didn’t have much of an interest in consuming this story on the big screen.
