Kalki 2898 AD Box Office: Film has minimal drop from Friday, crosses Rs. 125 crores in 5 days

Kalki (Hindi) had done quite well on Thursday when it had gathered Rs. 22.50 crores at the box office. Of course, a film of this scale and size with the repute of Prabhas could well have opened even bigger but then such is the situation at the box office these days that big numbers are just not coming. Hence when Rs. 20 crores mark was crossed on the opening day then that itself was a big deal.

What mattered was the kind of momentum that the film managed from Friday onwards and thankfully the trajectory was all positive with even Rs. 40 crores mark being crossed on Sunday. That pretty much ensured that Monday would be really good for the film and the only question was, how big? That’s where a number over Rs. 15 crores was being looked at since that would have been a benchmark for not just a wonderful Monday but also an assurance of a solid week ahead.

That’s what happened as Rs. 16.50 crores came in and it’s a very reasonable drop when compared to Thursday opening of Rs. 22.50 crores. Anything between Rs. 12-14 crores would have been good as well but to get this far is simply fantastic and now one can expect the film to stay in double digits right till Thursday before picking up all over again over the weekend and hitting at least Rs. 20 crores again on Sunday. The overall total of the film is good too as Rs. 128.65 crores have come in a matter of just 5 days with Rs. 150 crores set to be surpassed in the first seven days.
