Half-Yearly Worldwide Box Office Report 2024: Fighter tops global charts while Ajay Devgn shines twice

Interestingly, Bollywood movies have collectively grossed approximately $40 million USD overseas in the first half of 2024. Key contributors to this impressive figure include the Hrithik Roshan – Deepika Padukone starrer Fighter that leads the overseas market with its universal appeal, followed by Crew, grossing Rs. 157.08 crore, and featured an ensemble cast, and the Shahid Kapoor – Kriti Sanon starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya which struck a chord with viewers abroad.

Success Across Genres The top 10 list includes a diverse mix of genres, from action-packed Fighter and Shaitaan to the dramatic Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and the socially relevant Article 370. This diversity indicates a wide range of audience preferences and successful risk-taking by filmmakers.

Dominance of Fighter Hrithik Roshan's Fighter leads the box office with an impressive Rs. 337.2 crore, significantly outpacing the competition. In fact, Fighter leads by approximately 59.8% over the second highest grosser, Shaitaan.

Ajay Devgn's Double Impact While Fighter led the list of movies, Ajay Devgn shines with two films in the top 10, viz. Shaitaan that collected Rs. 211.06 crore and Maidaan that collected Rs. 68.09 crore. With this, the combined gross of Devgn's films hover at Rs. 279.15 crore, highlighting his strong box office pull.

Surprise Entrants Interestingly, making a surprise entrance was the release Munjya that emerged as a surprise hit, securing the fifth position with Rs. 128.36 crore. And actor par excellence, Rajkummar Rao, who managed to feature in this list with the release Srikanth that notable entered with a collection of Rs. 62.92 crore.
