Tejas Advance Booking Report: Kangana Ranaut starrer sells less than 5,000 tickets across national multiplex chains; dull opening likely at the box office

It's another Kangana Ranaut film headed for a theatrical release and the early response to the advance booking is dull, to say the least. With less than three hours to go for the day of release, her aerial actioner has sold less than 5,000 tickets across the three national multiplex chains - PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. The final advance in the three chains is expected to be in the range of 6,000 to 7,000 tickets.

The response is dull across the board, and this is a shocker as Tejas looked like a big action film. The production values are high and so is the cost of making the film. Such a low advance has almost sealed the film's fate, and it will need a miraculous turn of events including positive word of mouth and massive walk-in footfalls from hereon to reach the black for producers. The final advance of Tejas in an ideal scenario will be in the range of 7,000 tickets, which is slightly higher than Akshay Kumar's Mission Raniganj (6,000 tickets) and very similar to Tiger Shroff's Ganapath.

The two films featured bigger stars and hence the walk-ins were bigger. This sort of advance indicates an opening in the range of Rs. 1.25 to 1.50 crores on Day 1, which spells trouble for a film of this scale and budget. Even in an optimistic turn of events, the opening is likely to stay below the Rs. 2 crore mark, which is again low.

It's a case of how big the film jumps on Saturday and Sunday and then hold on Monday to reach a respectable number.
