Mission Raniganj Box Office Estimate Day 1: Akshay Kumar starrer opens in the same range as Selfiee; collects Rs. 2.75 cr. on Friday
Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Raniganj opened to dull houses today morning after a low-key advance in sales before release. The opening was around 10 to 15% across the morning and early afternoon shows. The promotions were negligible and so was the buzz. According to trade estimates, Mission Raniganj is likely to end Day 1 with Rs. 2.75 crores. The opening is almost in the same range as Selfiee, which was Rs. 2.55 crores.
Some of Akshay’s last few films have performed poorly at the box office, which include Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, and Selfiee and Mission Raniganj is likely to find a place in this list. The movie will have to depend heavily on word of mouth and increase om footfalls over the weekend to show healthy growth.
Thank You For Coming, the other theatrical release of the week is likely to end Day 1 with approximately Rs. 65 lakhs. It was more of a festival film suited for an OTT release.
