Box Office: 12th Fail sees growth over the weekend, aims to score first week of over Rs. 12 crores
There was constant growth shown by 12th Fail over the weekend as the collections rose three times over from Rs. 1.10 crores on Friday to Rs. 3.10 crores on Sunday. This is a much better trending than what most would have expected out of it, and the fact that it's the highest grossing film so far amidst all the competition says a lot about how word of mouth has come into play.
The Vidhu Vinod Chopra directed film has been running on a limited count of screens and several shows were running to 70%-80% capacity, which is quite good. The last time a film was running to such kind of occupancy at least in the first few days was Fukrey 3 and unfortunately post that one just missed such kind of sight film after film with empty houses greeting them all. Thankfully, at least some select urban multiplexes are managing good footfalls at screens where 12th Fail is playing and that's heartening.
For Vikrant Massey, this is encouraging since the young actor has been around for so long and finally he has a solo release to his name, which is also making at least some sort of mark theatrically as well. With Rs. 6.70 crores in its kitty, the film is now assured of a first week number of Rs. 12 crores. This also means that a lifetime score of over Rs. 25 crores should come in eventually and that would be a good enough result for the film.
