Shamshera Box Office Estimate Day 3: Ranbir Kapoor starrer is REJECTED; records a flat trend on Sunday

Ranbir Kapoor's return to the big screen after 4 years has not got the best welcome, as the collections of the film are not upto the mark. After a poor start of Rs. 10.25 crore, the movie showed minimal growth by reaching Rs. 10.50 crore on Saturday taking the two day total to Rs. 20.75 crore. And now, the big Sunday growth is also missing for Shamshera. According to early estimates, Shamshera has collected in the range of Rs. 11.50 to 12.50 crore on Sunday to take opening weekend to Rs. 32.75 crores.

Shamshera Box Office Estimate Day 3: Ranbir Kapoor starrer is REJECTED; records a flat trend on Sunday

The trend has been poor all across the weekend with little growth from Friday to Sunday. Being a mass film, one expected it to show some sort of gains on Sunday, but a near flat trend is a clear sign of rejection from the audience. It's curtains down for the film within the first 3 days of the theatrical run and this is a phenomenon that has been happening at regular intervals in the pandemic times.

As far as box office verdict is concerned, it's a theatrical disaster, though the on the table losses will be minimal due to back end deals on sale of digital and satellite rights. Shamshera marked Ranbir Kapoor's entry in the mass cinema, but the same set of audience didn't come out to support the film. Multiplexes too remained dull through the weekend.

Given the cost involved and the genre, Shamshera should have recorded a bare minimum weekend of Rs. 50 crore, but it has fallen short by a huge margin. The film has been underperforming since the opening itself, and with negative talk in the audience, it never had a chance to make up for the lost ground on opening day.
