Box Office: Shabaash Mithu is a commercial disaster; lifetime collections to be in the same range as Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad

Unfortunately, for the Hindi film industry, there is yet another big commercial disaster to have arrived at the box office. Shabaash Mithu is yet another Hindi film that has found no takers in theatres and would fold up much sooner and at much lesser than expected collections.

The film was expected to open around the Rs. 1 crore mark but did less than 50% of that on the first day. Then there was hope that there would be some sort of turnaround over the weekend but that didn't happen either. After that, all hopes were lost for the film and that's reflecting in the weekday collections of the film that are just about hovering around the Rs. 15 lakhs mark, which is just plain disappointment.

For Taapsee Pannu, this was a big ticket film since after Sushant Singh Rajput played the part of M.S. Dhoni in M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story and Ranveer Singh got into the shoes of Kapil Dev for '83, she stepped into the field for enacting the part of another living legend, Mithali Raj. However, there was just no buzz created around the film and since the end product wasn't impressive either, the box office was left high and dry. The results can well be seen in barely Rs. 2.60 crores* that have been collected so far and the end would come at Rs. 2.75 crores*. Sad, but true.
