467.94x! Hanuman Ansh DESTROYS Aamir Khan formula; creates a box office record that may NEVER be broken, as No. 2 trails at just 11.60x

Hanuman Ansh has turned its extraordinary theatrical run into a box office record that could potentially remain untouched for years. As per the Aamir Khan Formula, the film has registered a staggering 467.94x weekend-to-lifetime multiple, a figure that puts it in a league of its own. The Aamir Khan formula measures a film’s lifetime business against its opening weekend, essentially highlighting how much a film grows after its first three days. The idea is that films with strong legs continue attracting audiences well beyond the initial weekend, with word of mouth and sustained audience interest driving their theatrical journey.

And Hanuman Ansh has taken that concept to an almost unimaginable level. The film is not merely the only release of 2026 to record a triple-digit multiple it has come remarkably close to the 500x mark. In fact, its 467.94x multiple is more than 40 times that of the film placed second on the current chart.

The contrast is striking. Main Vaapas Aaunga, which sits at No. 2, has a multiple of 11.60x, while Krishnavataram - Part 1: The Heart stands at 5.58x and Project Hail Mary at 5.36x. Several major 2026 releases are even below the 3x mark.

This means that while most films find it difficult to even break into double digits, Hanuman Ansh has gone into triple-digit territory and then pushed the number towards 500.

The film’s journey makes the achievement even more remarkable. Hanuman Ansh opened to a modest Rs. 0.64 crore over its first weekend but went on to record a lifetime India net of Rs. 300.44 crore, resulting in the phenomenal 467.94x multiple.

Aamir Khan’s formula has previously highlighted films such as Main Vaapas Aaunga for their ability to grow beyond the opening weekend. But Hanuman Ansh has rewritten the scale altogether.

At 467.94x, this is not just another entry on the chart. It is a record that, given the enormous gap to the rest of the field, might never be broken.

Speaking about Hanuman Ansh’s phenomenal number as per Aamir Khan formula, veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “No formula, no calculation can work for Hanuman Ansh. This film has proven all calculations and estimations wrong by a wide, wide, wide margin. Its first week was very weak. In the second week, it collapsed. On the third Friday, there was slight movement. But Saturday and Sunday went up and that was the turning point. No formula or calculation can predict its business. Even the producer and director I spoke to, no one has an answer as to how much it will earn eventually. It is just going on. If a film made in Rs. 2 crores makes Rs. 300 crores, you can imagine what kind of business it has done.”

He said that Hanuman Ansh’s triumph reminds him of the enormous success of the 1975 movie Jai Santoshi Maa when he was 10 years old. “I saw it thrice in those days and it was packed every time,” he recalled. “When the song ‘Main Toh Aarti Utaaru Re’ used to play, we used to get up from our seats and sing along. People also used to remove their footwear outside the cinema hall. Those are the memories I cannot forget. That was a rare film. That was also a devotional film. Later, Rajshri Productions came up with Nadiya Ke Paar (1982). The kind of craze that film had was amazing. All these films defy the calculations and estimations.”

When asked whether any other film in the near future is expected to break Hanuman Ansh’s record of achieving this number as per Aamir Khan’s formula, Adarsh was quick to say, “Never say never. Records are meant to be broken. Maybe some movie can do as much business or surprise us again. Like I always say, box office can be very unpredictable and that’s the beauty of this business. One week before the release of Hanuman Ansh, did anyone expect this film to give a tough fight to some big films and do Rs. 300 crores’ business? People are stunned and shocked to see that such a thing can happen. A lot of times a film has opened with a bang but collapsed on the next day. Toxic is a shining example. Hanuman Ansh was playing in theatres when Toxic released. This film has put behind so many films – from Spider Man: Brand New Day to The Odyssey to Toxic to Batwara 1947 to Awarapan 2 to Haiwaan to Mirzapur The Movie and now The Vvaan. When you see a film succeed like this, it reinforces your faith in cinema.”
