Sooraj Pancholi talks about undergoing the feeling of ‘unwantedness’ during the Jiah Khan suicide case trial
Sooraj Pancholi was expected to make his big Bollywood debut with Hero which suffered massive setbacks and delays after the actor got embroiled in the Jiah Khan suicide case. Readers would recall that Sooraj was dating the Nishabd actress for a brief period, during which, she committed suicide in her Mumbai residence, followed by which Khan’s family, especially her mother, accused of Sooraj of abetting the crime. However, last week, in the final hearing, Pancholi was acquitted of all charges and recently, he opened up about how it not only impacted his career, and his personal life but also his public presence.
“From the moment I stepped out of my house to the time I got back, I felt trapped, breathless, and judged every day,” said Sooraj Pancholi in an interview with Etimes, The actor, who started off his career with Hero, faced severe backlash on social media and other platforms followed by the accusations thrown towards him. “In showbiz, perception is everything. At any event, I was the last person to reach and the first to leave. Even when they were probably not judging me, I felt that way. There was this constant pressure, a feeling that people don’t want to be around me or seen with me and that is the worst feeling ever… the thought of being unwanted,” added Pancholi.
Talking about how it affected his career, Sooraj continued, “I did sense a bit of hesitation and hostility. I was removed from projects. The films that I was working on were stopped midway. Every time I tried to move on, some fake reports in the media and vicious online trolling held me back.”
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Sooraj Pancholi had maintained that now it is time to move on and think of his future. “I will try to leave all this behind and move on. It’s time for me give back to my family the time I took away from them. It’s time to stand up and take care of my parents and my sister, do good things in life. I plan to settle down in life. A lot needs to be planned. I never made any plans all these years,” he had concluded.
