After the Academy Awards, Will Smith gets banned from Saturday Night Live for slapping Chris Rock
Though it's been months since Will Smith’s infamous ‘Slapgate’ incident, the actor is often in the news for it. After being banned from the Academy Awards, the now, popular American show Saturday Night Live is also gearing up to ban Will Smith because for the same reasons.
Yes! You read it right. The Hollywood star is reportedly not welcomed back on SNL. According to an Ace Show Biz report, the American sketch series is banning the actor permanently following the Oscars slap. Quoting a source, the site mentioned, “Smith will never ever be invited back to 'SNL' after what he did to Chris. The show is a temple comedian, and no one wants him around anymore.”
The report further added that the producers of the show are also concerned that if Smith returns, other notable celebrities may refuse to appear in the future. For the unversed, Chris Rock is a former important part of the show, having starred in it from 1990 to 1993.
The King Richard star slapped Chris at the 2022 Academy Awards in March over the latter's joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head. He then shouted at the comedian, who was presenting onstage, twice to “keep my wife's name out of your f**king mouth!” Post the incident, Smith posted an apology video, in which he can be seen saying, “It's all fuzzy. I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk.”
