The Mirzapur phenomenon has officially translated into big-screen numbers. Mirzapur – The Movie has delivered a strong opening weekend at the box office, collecting Rs. 90.95 crore and emerging as the 4th highest opening weekend grosser of 2026.

The film has managed to put itself ahead of several notable theatrical releases this year, most significantly Awarapan 2. The Emraan Hashmi-led action drama had opened to Rs. 81.50 crore over its first weekend and had, until now, occupied the fifth spot on the list. Mirzapur – The Movie has now pushed it down to sixth place, underlining the strength of the franchise and the curiosity surrounding its theatrical debut.

What makes the number interesting is that Mirzapur has traditionally been identified with streaming rather than theatrical cinema. The series built an incredibly loyal following over its seasons, with Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi becoming pop-culture favourites. Bringing that world to theatres was therefore always going to be an experiment, but the opening weekend suggests that the fan base was more than willing to make the jump from the small screen to the big screen.

At Rs. 90.95 crore, Mirzapur – The Movie is now comfortably ahead of Awarapan 2, while still having some distance to cover before entering the top four. The list is currently headed by Dhurandhar The Revenge, which delivered a staggering Rs. 443 crore, followed by Border 2 at Rs. 129.89 crore, while Toxic occupies third position with Rs. 116.48 crore.

Below Mirzapur – The Movie and Awarapan 2 are Dhamaal 4 with Rs. 64.35 crore, Welcome To The Jungle with Rs. 63.47 crore, The Odyssey (English) with Rs. 56.85 crore, and Bhooth Bangla with Rs. 54.50 crore, Cocktail 2 with Rs. 46.76 cr and Alpha at Rs. 33.48 cr.

For Mirzapur – The Movie, however, the bigger story is not just the ranking. It is the fact that a franchise born and nurtured on streaming has now made a convincing theatrical statement. The real test begins from Monday, but for now, Guddu Pandit and company have plenty to celebrate.

Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal,  Divyendu Sharma and Ravi Kishan led Mirzapur: The Movie is on a record-breaking spree at the box office in India. After collecting Rs. 55.77 crore on the first two days, the Excel Entertainment production is looking to collect in the range of Rs. 37 crore to Rs. 38 crore on Sunday, taking the opening weekend collections to Rs. 93 crore.

The film is a SUPER HIT venture, and the hold on Monday has a chance to take it to the BLOCKBUSTER level. The film has collected around Rs. 17 crore in the top 3 national chains on Sunday, which has contributed about 47 per cent to the total business. The single screens went berserk on Sunday, with most of the iconic places running to packed houses all through the day. The success of Mirzapur: The Movie is an eye-opener, as the film is among the first to transition from OTT to the big screen, paving the way for many more in the near future. The film is turning out to be the much-needed success for Excel Entertainment, which has been on a low in the post Covid times. The advances for Monday are strong, which means a double-digit day four is on the cards for the gangster drama.

The Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma and Ravi Kishan led Mirzapur: The Movie has set the box office on fire in India. After a start of Rs. 24.47 crore, the gangster drama had a solid growth on the second day with Saturday collections of Rs. 31.3 crore. With this, the two-day total of this gangster drama stands at Rs. 55.77 crore.

The film is doing phenomenal business all across the board - be it multiplexes or the single screens. The film is showing growth despite coming off a partial holiday, and this is a great sign, talking volumes about the acceptance from cinema-going audiences. There should be another strong day on Sunday, which should take the weekend business to Rs. 90 crore plus, with a strong chance of hitting the Rs. 95 crore mark.

Mirzapur: The Movie has broken all norms, as it's the first from the digital world to take over the theatrical audience, and this should pave the way for many more in the years to come. This is the first breakout from the digital world on the big screen, and the eyes are on what comes next from here on.

Mirzapur is a hit film, and the hold on weekdays will tell us if it can emerge as a super hit or a blockbuster.

The Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma, Ali Fazal and Ravi Kishan led Mirzapur: The Movie has embarked on a strong start at the box office in India. According to early estimates the gangster drama has opened in the range of Rs. 25 crore to Rs. 26 crore on Friday, going past the industry projections in the range of Rs.15 crore to Rs 20 crore.

The film has collected in the range of Rs. 12 crore nett in the national multiplexes chains, contributing about 50 percent to the total collections. There were reservations around this at the time of announcement as never before has a series been converted into a feature film for the big screen in India.

The film benefitted owing to Janmashtami on Friday, and the real value without holiday will be in the range of Rs. 17 crore, which is also humongous. Mirzapur will be aiming at an opening weekend in the vicinity of Rs. 80 crore, and with positive word of mouth, it will easily double up in the long run and hit Rs. 160 crore in the lifetime.

The film will end up being a super hit venture with strong ROI, as the digital value is also solid owing to the strong recall on the OTT world. There won't be much growth on second day, but if the film manages to stay at similar numbers on day 2, it will be enough to take it past the finish line.

Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyendu Sharma led Mirzapur: The Movie is set to take a flying start at the box office in India. The advances for the film opened on Monday, and the tickets have been selling like hot cakes ever since then. As of Thursday at 4.30 PM, Mirzapur: The Movie has sold 90,000 tickets in the top 3 national chains - PVRInox and Cinepolis - and is headed to close its pre-sales around the 1,30,000 tickets mark.

The advances will be higher than the Independence Day release, Awarapan 2, which sold around 1,20,000 tickets in the top 3 national chains. The film is selling better than Awarapan 2 in the non-national chains too, and with a holiday on the horizon, should record a start around the Rs 30 crore mark.

This is a fantastic start for a film, which is a derivative of a web series- first of its kind in India. The reason for such an opening is largely due to the strong IP and recall for the cult characters created by Excel Entertainment in the digital world. The film will be looking at an opening weekend of Rs. 100 crore, which is historic for a film without big stars or a hit song.

The inside reports on the film are also strong, which is a big plus, as the sky is the limit if the audience resonates with the content.
