The film had opened its theatrical run on Friday with Rs. 2.18 crore. It then witnessed a strong 44.04% jump on Saturday, collecting Rs. 3.14 crore. Sunday saw a marginal 2.23% decline, with the film adding Rs. 3.07 crore. This took its opening weekend total to Rs. 8.78 crore.

The transition to the weekdays brought the expected slowdown. Monday saw the film’s collections fall by 53.75% to Rs. 1.42 crore. However, Tuesday brought a welcome reversal in the trend as business climbed back to Rs. 1.64 crore. The film also recorded 3,649 shows across 1,677 venues on Tuesday, with overall occupancy standing at 14.85%, according to Bollywood Hungama's box office data.

The Tuesday performance is significant because the film managed to improve its business despite being in the middle of its opening week. After the sharp Monday correction, a further decline could have put greater pressure on the film's weekday run. Instead, the increase has allowed Resident Evil to inch closer to the Rs. 12 crore mark.

The film began its theatrical journey with Rs. 0.94 crore on Friday. Business then improved substantially on Saturday, when collections jumped 50% to Rs. 1.41 crore. Sunday remained largely stable, with the film collecting Rs. 1.39 crore, a marginal 1.42% decline from Saturday. The opening weekend consequently stood at Rs. 3.74 crore.

The transition to the weekdays, however, resulted in a sharp correction. Daayra collected Rs. 0.47 crore on Monday, marking a 66.19% decline from Sunday. The Monday figure also fell below the Rs. 50 lakh mark, bringing the four-day total to Rs. 4.24 crore.

Tuesday's Rs. 0.45 crore collection was only Rs. 0.02 crore lower than Monday. While the business remained modest, the limited day-on-day movement is a more stable trend than the steep fall witnessed at the start of the weekdays. The film has now added Rs. 0.92 crore across Monday and Tuesday.

With five days completed, Daayra has reached Rs. 4.69 crore and is now just Rs. 0.31 crore away from crossing the Rs. 5 crore mark. The film will need to maintain its weekday business and ideally see some momentum over the coming weekend if it is to build substantially on its current total.

The film, which opened to a record-breaking response, has maintained remarkable momentum through its theatrical run. Despite entering its sixth weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued to attract audiences, collecting Rs. 43 lakh on Friday, Rs. 72 lakh on Saturday and Rs. 83 lakh on Sunday. With this, the film's Weekend 6 total stands at Rs. 1.98 crore, taking its overall India nett collection to Rs. 500.21 crore.

The film's journey to the Rs. 500 crore milestone has been particularly noteworthy. Released on Thursday, its extended first week of eight days brought in a massive Rs. 336 crore. The Akshay Kumar-Saif Ali Khan starrer Haiwaan was released with a lot of expectations due to its casting, thriller genre, four-day weekend in Maharashtra and Priyadarshan’s association as director. However, the opening was underwhelming and the film never managed to pick up over the weekend, possibly due to poor word of mouth. Competition from Mirzapur The Movie and Hanuman Ansh may have also played a part.

Haiwaan collected Rs. 2.79 crores on Day 1, which was below the expected Rs. 3-4 crore range. On Saturday, the earnings dropped to Rs. 2.13 crores, which was a telling sign. The thriller fell further on Sunday, collecting a mere Rs. 1.58 crores.

After such a performance over the weekend, it was evident that Haiwaan would fall below the Rs. 1 crore mark on the weekdays. And that’s exactly what happened. Haiwaan earned Rs. 64 lakhs on Monday, Rs. 59 lakhs on Tuesday, Rs. 47 lakhs on Wednesday and Rs. 48 lakhs on Thursday.

On Friday, September 11, we were among the first to report that advance booking for Avengers Endgame: Encore had commenced in India. In no time, its tickets started selling like hot cakes. While the film was expected to have a decent opening, the advance trends now make it clear that it is all set for a huge first day.

As per data accessed by Bollywood Hungama, as of 12 noon on September 15, Avengers Endgame: Encore has sold around 45,000 tickets. More than a week is still left for its release, with the superhero saga arriving in cinemas on September 25. Going by the present momentum, ticket sales are expected to breach the 1 lakh mark soon.

Avengers Endgame: Encore should comfortably cross the day 1 earnings during the re-release of Ghilli, Murari and Sanam Teri Kasam, as well as Gabbar Singh. All eyes are on whether it can cross Baahubali: The Epic, or even cross the Rs. 10 crore mark.

One reason for the immense demand for Avengers Endgame: Encore is the recent blockbuster success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has once again boosted interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On September 4, the English version of Yash-starrer Toxic was released in India. Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report that the film collected just Rs. 1.40 lakhs approximately. Just 450 tickets were sold across the country. The news went viral in no time. We now bring you a report on how the English version of Toxic fared over the week.

The first day of release turned out to be the best day for the English version of Toxic. The film collected Rs. 1.38 lakhs on Friday from 11 shows across four cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram and Noida. On Saturday, the showcasing was reduced to seven shows in three cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad – and the collections fell to Rs. 78,774. Even on Sunday, when the film continued to play in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, there was no weekend jump as the earnings slipped further to Rs. 70,460.

The situation worsened considerably on Monday, with Toxic crashing to just Rs. 15,034. Tuesday proved to be the film’s worst day, as the English version managed to collect a mere Rs. 3,125.

There was a marginal improvement on Wednesday, when the collections rose to Rs. 5,699, before falling again to Rs. 4,655 on Thursday. While the film was playing in Gurugram and Bengaluru on Monday, its showcasing was restricted to Bengaluru alone for the remaining weekdays, underlining the extremely poor demand for the English version.

As expected, owing to the extremely poor turnout, the English version of Toxic has been discontinued from Friday, September 11. What makes its performance all the more shocking is that Toxic was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, while it was dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Despite being an original-language version, the English edition found virtually no takers, not just in India but Overseas as well. As a result, the recovery from the English version has been negligible.

The English version of Toxic has a tighter narrative. This is because its runtime is 176.52 minutes. In other words, Toxic's English version is 2 hours, 56 minutes and 52 seconds. The rest of the versions of the Yash-starrer have a run time of 194.12 minutes, that is, 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds.

The film will now need strong spot bookings and favourable word of mouth to make up for the lacklustre pre-release response.

The start is extremely poor, and the film will have to rely on the audience word of mouth, as that can help it show gains on the weekend and then clock a Monday higher than Friday.

But even for a miracle trending, it's a must for Haiwaan to open around the Rs. 5 crore mark, which at the moment looks tough. The film is a remake of a Malayalam film, and that has also dented the theatrical potential.

The producers have not put a lot of money into promoting the film, probably owing to the disastrous performance of Toxic. The eyes are now on word of mouth, which hopefully should land in favour of the film, leading to a spike in biz on Saturday and Sunday.

Mirzapur: The Movie has broken all norms, as it's the first from the digital world to take over the theatrical audience, and this should pave the way for many more in the years to come. The Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma, Ali Fazal and Ravi Kishan led Mirzapur: The Movie has embarked on a strong start at the box office in India. According to early estimates the gangster drama has opened in the range of Rs. 25 crore to Rs. 26 crore on Friday, going past the industry projections in the range of Rs.15 crore to Rs 20 crore.

The film has collected in the range of Rs. 12 crore nett in the national multiplexes chains, contributing about 50 percent to the total collections. There were reservations around this at the time of announcement as never before has a series been converted into a feature film for the big screen in India.

As of Thursday at 4.30 PM, Mirzapur: The Movie has sold 90,000 tickets in the top 3 national chains - PVRInox and Cinepolis - and is headed to close its pre-sales around the 1,30,000 tickets mark.

The advances will be higher than the Independence Day release, Awarapan 2, which sold around 1,20,000 tickets in the top 3 national chains. The film is selling better than Awarapan 2 in the non-national chains too, and with a holiday on the horizon, should record a start around the Rs 30 crore mark.

This is a fantastic start for a film, which is a derivative of a web series- first of its kind in India. The reason for such an opening is largely due to the strong IP and recall for the cult characters created by Excel Entertainment in the digital world. The film will be looking at an opening weekend of Rs. 100 crore, which is historic for a film without big stars or a hit song.

The inside reports on the film are also strong, which is a big plus, as the sky is the limit if the audience resonates with the content.

The Yash-led Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has completed its first seven days at the India box office with collections of Rs. 124.62 crore in Hindi language. After taking a massive start of Rs. 50.31 crore on Wednesday, the Geetu Mohandas directorial witnessed a sharp erosion in collections through the extended opening weekend and is now heading towards a lifetime finish in the vicinity of Rs. 145–148 crore.

Toxic collected Rs. 21.75 crore on Thursday, followed by Rs. 17.40 crore on Friday, Rs. 13.90 crore on Saturday and Rs. 13.12 crore on Sunday. The real indication of its long-term trend, however, came on Monday when collections crashed to Rs. 4.09 crore, representing a drop of nearly 69 per cent from Sunday.

On Tuesday, the film collected another Rs. 4.05 crore. While the Monday-to-Tuesday hold might appear encouraging at first glance, the Tuesday collections were aided by offers, and hence cannot be viewed as a completely organic hold. The Wednesday number will consequently become crucial in determining how quickly Toxic begins to lose steam in its second week.

At present, the film has accumulated Rs. 124.62 crore in seven days. Going by the weekday trajectory, occupancies and expected reduction in showcasing, Toxic is likely to add only around Rs. 20–23 crore from this point onwards. A second weekend in the vicinity of Rs. 7–9 crore followed by progressively weaker weekdays could see the film reach approximately Rs. 138–141 crore by the end of its second week. Thereafter, limited business in the third and subsequent weeks should take its final collections to around Rs. 145–148 crore.

Unless the film witnesses an unexpected turnaround over its second weekend, Rs. 150 crore now appears difficult, with lifetime India box office collection projected at approximately Rs. 145–148 crores.
