Bhakshak Trailer: Bhumi Pednekar leads the quest for truth in this crime thriller

The trailer of Bhakshak, starring Bhumi Pednekar, was released on Wednesday. It is directed by Pulkit and also stars Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava and Sai Tamhankar in pivotal roles. Written by Jyotsana Nath and Pulkit, the film is inspired by true events.

The trailer introduces us to Vaishali Singh (Bhumi Pednekar), a journalist who is on a quest to find the truth. She stands strong against powerful politicians who have committed a ghastly crime involving some girls at a shelter home. In a poignant confrontation towards the end of the trailer, Vaishali explains to another character about the need to speak up against injustice.

Speaking of her character in the film, Bhumi said in a press release, “In my journey as an actor, I have always been drawn to clutter-breaking films that go beyond the conventional narrative. Bhakshak is also one such film, in fact, it is one of the most significant films of my career. This has been a profound experience and I am very grateful for scripts like Bhakshak and characters like Vaishali Singh that have the courage to tell these powerful narratives.”

Director Pulkit added in the press note, “This story is deeply personal to me, and shaping the journey of an investigative journalist in her pursuit of justice and truth has been an incredibly enriching experience as a director.”

Bhakshak is produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma under Red Chillies Entertainment. Shot by Kumar Saurabh and edited by Zubin Sheikh, the film will be released on Netflix on February 9.
