Dalip Tahil gets two months in jail in 2018 drunk driving case

Actor Dalip Tahil was sentenced to two months in jail on Sunday in a 2018 drunk driving case. As per reports, a magistrate court convicted Dalip after relying on the evidence of a doctor who revealed that the smell of alcohol was found and the actor's pupils were dilated at the time of the accident.

The actor, known for his role as Madan Chopra in Shah Rukh Khan’s Baazigar (1993), rammed his car into an autorickshaw in 2018, injuring two passengers.

Reports also stated that Dalip had tried to flee the accident spot but he was caught in a traffic jam caused by the Ganesh Visarjan procession in Mumbai in 2018. The passengers reportedly confronted the actor. Dalip was reportedly taken into custody by the police after he allegedly got into an argument with the passengers and pushed them around.

Responding to the conviction, Dalip told Bombay Times, “I respect the judgement, but it is a suspended sentence and we will approach the higher court.” He added, “It is an old case. If I had caused somebody grave injury, I would be the first person to beg for forgiveness. People need to know that there was no significant injury. Frankly, I have nothing further to say on this. I respect the court, but we will appeal to the higher court.”

The actor has worked in over 100 films in his career in the industry. Some of his notable works include Raja (1995), Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Rock On!! (2008), Ra.One (2011), Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), and Mission Mangal (2019), among others. He was last seen in the Rajkummar Rao, Sanya Malhotra starrer HIT: The First Case
