2006 Hindi film Khosla Ka Ghosla to get three remakes in local languages
The 2006 Hindi film Khosla Ka Ghosla is set to be remade in local Indian languages, including Telugu, Marathi and Kannada, the producer of the film Savita Raj Hiremath said at the Busan International Film Festival.
The film was directed by Dibakar Banerjee with Jaideep Sahni serving as the writer. Khosla Ka Ghosla is about a middle class, retired man Khosla who tries to retrieve his land from a property dealer.
While the Kannada version will be directed by Adarsh Eshwarappa, the Telugu one will be helmed by Vinod Anantoju. Kedar Shinde will assume the directorial responsibilities in Marathi.
"To most Indians building a home in a lifetime is like a dream come true. It is relatable to a pan-Indian audience as property fraud is paramount and witnessed in large measure. Thus the remakes of Khosla Ka Ghosla! will be apt as there is a need to address the issue, entertain and monetize the creative rendition," Savita was quoted as saying to Variety.
While the cast for the upcoming remakes are yet to be revealed, the original film starred Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, among others.
